🔶𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮 This handsome boy was brought in as a stray, he sadly got mixed up with the wrong crowd. He was roaming with a group of dogs that was harassing a mailman. He doesn’t seem to have any leash training, he chews through them instantly.

6/24 This morning dog was sitting in the back of the kennel lip licking, whale eyes, when trying to leash he would move from side to side, once i placed him in a leash he bolted out the kennel, started chewing on the leash , I quickly muzzle and carry him into a new kennel

6/24 Owner Surrender / Male / Labrador Retr MIX / 2Y / 105.0 lbs / HW-

🔶𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚: Max is not happy in the shelter and would like to speak to a manager. The owner has had him since he was a puppy, they said that he becomes stressed with strangers and storms. I think stressed is an understatement. He is salivating and shaking with fear in the kennel. He was an indoor dog but appears to have dermatitis, maybe food allergies or flea derm.
Because of his behavior in the shelter, he is rescue only.

📝Shelter Notes:

6/25 Maxx has tense body, dilated eyes, hackles up, growling showing bare teeth and lunging at leash. Had to use a double leash. Once leashed Maxx walked out of kennel with his tail tucked and hackles still up, coming to sudden stops giving a hard stare. Maxx didn't want to go into new kennel had to walk in with him and quickly close kennel door behind him.

🔶𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮 Shadow was involved in a bite case on 6-9-23. The victim was petting one of two of the neighbor’s dogs when the victim became tangled in both leashes and Shadow reacted and bit the victim’s leg. The bite is described as minor but the fire department arrived and treated the bite-no details given.
Shadow has been friendly with the staff at the shelter.

Bianca was waggy and happy in the kennel and took treats from me gently through the bars, she was easy to leash and walked outside with a happy waggy trot, she is very treat motivated and knows how to sit! She even tolerated me strapping a pizza costume to her face! She rolled over in defeat for belly rubs. Sorry not sorry! She gave the dog next door polite sniffs and tail wags but was more interested in my treats and attention. She did all her business outside and is just a happy waggy girl and she’s a great schmedium size. I’d take this sweet girl home! She went back to her kennel easy.

6/23 Approaching kennel, dog starts to jump on the kennel door with red eyes, low ears, and a wagging tail. I offer treats to leash her to which she comes out with a wiggly body and a soft smile. Noticed her getting vocal inside of runs and kennel. Covered kennel door, place extra enrichment, and toss over treats to redirect attention.

#1 This is Birdie. I was trying to get better pics but it was so loud I’m the row. She came out with a hesitant wag and then the barks scared her. I squatted down and she semi crawled to me and rested her head in my lap. She’s a skinny girl but she was a sweetie. She’s scared but willing to try. Easy to work up without restraint. Has definitely had lots of pups
#2 this girl😭😭😭 made me so sad to see her as an owner surrender in such rough shape, although not surprising anymore. her t***s are pretty engorged so not sure if they also turned in her puppies. she is soo skinny so i imagine they took lots out of her. despite being able to see the majority of her ribs, she is so gentle when taking treats, even when she wants them so bad. I did have to use the hotdogs to lure her outside and carry her at times but she walked back inside mostly on her own. she was standing at the front of her kennel so confused when I left 😩
out in the yard she was quiet and kept to herself. she let me clean the eye boogers from her eyes and humored by allowing me to take some pictures of with a headband. she met and shared the fence line with POPSICLE and MISSY without issue. love her floppy cheeks😩 she could use a good bath and some fattening up but she is so sweet. hate that she has had such an obvious crap life

💜 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
#1 Lina was clearly used for her puppies and then wound up stuck at BARC. A sweet and timid girl who is really confused and doesn’t deserve this. When I approached her kennel she was giving a slight low growl but after tossing a few treats her way she was at the front of the kennel on all 4s waiting for me to leash her. She walked well on the leash and once in the runs she continued to be skiddish. She would flinch when I went to put her, and didn’t seem confident to approach me unless I sat down on the floor at her level or offered a treat. Although she was scared and confused she never showed any aggression during our entire interaction!! She ended up just laying down and hanging out once she no longer minded my presence. She still has some milk left over- but no puppies as far as I am aware at BARC (owner surrendered HA) This is probably just adding to her confusing and discomfort. Someone please help this sweet girl.
#2 Lina was laying on her bed when I approached the kennel and came up to the door to say hello with light tail wags and took a treat gently, she was easy to leash and trotted outside calmly, she immediately did all her business outside and met other dogs with polite sniffs but wasn’t super interested in them, she didn’t care for my treats outside and was just the teenciest bit timid, and walked around the runs calmly. She came over to me for pets eventually, hooray! And she has the sweet raccoon eyes. She really liked the squeaker toy but didn’t know what to do with it when I offered it to her. She was easy to leash and trotted right back to her kennel. She’s super sweet I just think she needs out of the scary kennel so her personality can shine.
📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:
6/24- approaching kennel dog presented a low wagging tail and low ears, I offered treats and opened the door to place the leash. when leashed she walked loosely, still waggiing her tail, and got into run with no issue. same body lenguage in the way back to her kennel.
6/23- Lina was vocal when entering the room this morning. As I moved the blanket to open the door she scooted to the back of kennel and presented whale eyes I poured food in bowl and when she looked up to make eye contact with me she presented raised brows. Once covered she slowly went to the food bowl.
6/22- Lina was a move adopt and when i approched her she was vocal then as i tossed treats she stopped and came closer to me and as i slightly opened the run door she came more closer and i looped her i opened the run door wider and she she stepped out slowly and walked lose leash and when placed in a kennel as i continue to take out other dogs for mornign walk she was vocal during the whole morning cleaning due to her being vocal placing adoopt eval.
6/19- Approaching kennel, Lina was laying down. As i opened the door, she got up, wagged tail, and allowed me to leash her. On the leash she walked loosely and walked into the next kennel after me.

💜𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀
#1 Reny gets an A+ for being at the head of her class! This good girl walks well on a leash, sits on command, and we can't wait to see what lucky family gets to take her home 🤩
#2 Reny was calm in her kennel with soft tail wags for me and met me at the door to take treats gently, she was easy to leash and walked calmly outside while sniffing dogs politely dog the row, she did her business once she was outside and gave polite sniffs to the dog next door, she came up to me for pets and treats and will sit when asked to do so and SHE CAN CATCH! She let me dress her up and gave me lots of kisses too! She’s super calm for a GSD mix and I only heard a couple excited barks out of her. She’s a super happy silly girl and walked right back to her kennel easy. She’s great!

6/12 Very beautiful dog, She walks gracefully with her back straight and her ears up. She enjoys treats so she obeys commands, easy to put the leash on and walk with her. Reny is very quiet in her kennel. she just lyind down in her bed with relax body.
6/20 Approaching kennel, dog come to me with a wagging tail and erect ears as I offer treats to leash her and she take then readily. Reny looks back at me for more treats with a wagging tail and walks on a loose leash.
6/23 Approaching kennel, dog comes to me with erect ears and a wagging tail as I babytalk and offer treats. As soon as I displays treats, Reny goes ahead a chomps hard for the treats midair to which I have to give treats faster. She walked gently on a loose leash on the way to the runs and back to her kennel but and would focus a lot on my hands for more treats.. Covered kennel door partially and placed extra enrichment.

5/23 Approaching Kennel, hades was laying in his bed and was looking up and got on all fours. He had mid risen tail, relaxed body and maintained a neutral face. While on the leash, hades maintains a loose leash with a loose body. Ignores other dogs and spends most of his time sleeping in his kennel.
5/20 Approaching kennel hades presented a relax body and soft facial expression. he walked on a loose leash and remains quiet in his kennel during the day.

6/24 Dog has purulent ear infection on both ears. Ears were cleaned and Claro was placed. Per foster, dog's e-collar was removed by dog overnight, and had concerns with the sc***um. Per vet, scotum appears to be healing well.
06/10/23 17:53 foster brought in dog this afternoon for sneezing. Citizen showed me a 7 sec video and it sounded like reverse sneezing. I had vet examine but it wasn't noted to have any sneezing, no n/d, no coughing was produced. Per vet, continue to monitor and take video of what exactly the dog is doing. Most likely reverse sneezing per vet. Showed citizen a trick to stop the reverse sneezing.

Scared and super matted, growly in the kennel but I was able to get on a leash and get out of the kennel, accepted my pets without making any noise or trying to bite but was not happy when I tried to pick up, probably just needs to decompress outside the shelter

6/25 Dog has tense body, dilated eyes, hackles up growling showing bare teeth. When trying to leash dog would air snap at my hand and leg. Had to use a thick blanket to carry him to new kennel. While carrying him dog would thrash and try to jump out of my hands. Had to remove leash with pole.
🔶𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚: Meet Tootsie! He was spotted roaming the streets by our officers and was picked up. He is not happy about being here, he is snapping at staff and showing off his pearly whites. Please let us know if you have a quiet place for this cutie to decompress!

Moon A1884366: Moon is SO FULL of puppy energy, he was jumping and spinning, wagging his tail and wiggling his body, kissing and licking, and gobbling up all the treats i could offer him so it was quite difficult to get good quality photos of him. He’s such a sweetheart and very confident for a young guy, he didn’t shy away from the industrial fan or cooling system set up in his ward, and he would approach several dogs in their kennels for sniffs. I couldn’t take him outside because he’s not had all his vaccines, but it’s pretty clear he’ll need some basic puppy training for things like walking on a leash.

6/25 this morning i checked the row and saw that moon painted the whole kennel. he is able to walk on a semi tight leash, but if we stop walking, he immediately jumps on me, cannot redirect his attention from me as he does not take treats while being walked. When placing him in his kennel, i have to hold him from getting out as he does not want to stay inside and treats will not distract him.
6/24 Moon showed a relaxed body, with a wagging tail. i took him out so the kennel could be clean, he would jump on me and hug my thighs while we would walk.
6/23 Placing dog on Adopt Eval due to him painting in kennel and constantly jumping on kennel door with dilated pupils as well as a wagging tail. I offer treat, which he ignores, to leash him and Moon continuously jumps on me on the way to and back from the runs. Noticed that he would also forward bark at other dogs so I covered the kennel door and gave extra enrichment.

DDX: Hip dysplasia, suspect rupture of cranial cruciate ligament.
