I am doing a pet transport that has me taking Highway 57 through Illinois, I try to stop and see the George Harrison mural because it’s a fun picture stop and there’s lots of grassy area for dogs to have potty breaks. Ther last time I was here, I was transporting a beautiful Airedale named Kitty to her forever home in North Carolina. Today, I’m taking this dog, Lily, on a transport to her mom! We just stopped for a potty break and some fresh water & I thought I would share some pictures and also a little history about this mural of George Harrison…and why it is on a highway in the middle of Illinois! Happy Christmas! 🎄❤️

I am pet sitting this week (as usual!!! ha ha). When I’m pet sitting, I work on other projects while I’m off of the road and stationary. Social media and photo/video editing for Ruby Slippers, client communications, scheduling, brainstorming ideas or events for the upcoming year…learning and continuing my education to be a better pet sitter and caregiver…etc. Whatever I feel needs attention, I try to work on it while I’m spending time with these wonderful animals and having some downtime while off of the road. I have had many ideas of how I may refocus “Ruby Slippers” going into the new year - given the events that transpired in February. I want to be off of the road more, closer to my family and continue to provide a caring and reliable service to people and their pets. I’ll miss my frequent gypsy road trip pet adventures! (I’ll still do them occasionally!). Being home, or, closer to home and less road tripping is the goal. More local! ❤️. “Change is good”… is the common theme of all self-help and growth advice out there. Yes. Change is good. It happens whether you like it or not and is inevitable and necessary. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not anxious or painful to live through.

I am so appreciative to everyone that has been there for us this past year…in so many different ways. Ya’ll have sent us messages of support and love, helped out after the crash and booked pet services with us and referred us to your loved ones - keeping us busy and focused during those uncertain months following our accident. This allowed us to have work during our “van-less” months & through the extended waiting game we played with the eventually fruitless “hit & run truck driver hunt” investigation.

To those that were here for us - there are no other words that will “do” other than to sincerely say - Thank you. 🙏 Happy Holidays!
