We’re working with Daisy in this video. She’s a 4 month old Choco Lab that hasn’t had too much formal training. Before this we free shaped touching the bowl so she kind of already has the expectation of touching it. This is her 2nd session where I used luring to help her out. Barking and destructive behaviors are not the problems but the symptoms of a larger issue so correcting dogs for that behavior won’t fix the reason they’re doing it in the first place. We want to hit it at the root and that’s a lack of self confidence and impulse control. There are many ways to treat separation anxiety and the place command is one of them.
