Brrr! The temperature is dropping, and it’s time to make sure your furry friend stays safe and happy this winter. Here are a few tips from The Dog Wizard Woodlands to keep tails wagging all season long:

1️⃣ Layer Up for Cool Mornings: Short-haired or small dogs might need a light sweater for those early morning walks.

2️⃣ Protect Their Paws: Cold pavement or damp ground can be uncomfortable for dogs. Check their paws after walks for any irritation.

3️⃣ Limit Outdoor Time on Windy Days: Even mild cold can feel harsher with strong winds. Keep an eye on your pup for signs of discomfort like shivering or curling up.

4️⃣ Hydration Matters: Cooler weather doesn’t mean dehydration stops! Make sure your dog has access to fresh water, especially during walks and playtime.

5️⃣ Indoor Fun: Rainy or chilly days are a great excuse to work on training, play tug-of-war, or try a treat puzzle indoors.

Are you Ready to Train Your Dog or Puppy? 🐕‍🦺

Sign up for our 5-week group training class starting Saturday, January 18th, 2025!

We will have two separate classes on the same day:

🐕 Adult Foundation Group Class - 9:00 AM
This class covers basic commands like sit, down, come, and place/stay, as well as loose leash walking and proper handling techniques. Adult dogs are considered 5 months or older.

🐶 Puppy Foundation Group Class - 10:00 AM
For puppies under 5 months, this class focuses on basic commands, crate training, housebreaking tips, and addressing common puppy behaviors like biting and jumping.

The 5-week class dates will be January 18th, January 25th, February 1st, February 8th, and February 15th.

Meet Allison, Our Head Trainer! 🐾

With over 10 years of experience working with animals, Allison’s passion for animal care started early. Growing up participating in 4-H and later joining the FFA veterinary science team in high school, she developed a deep sense of responsibility and trustworthiness as both a teacher and an animal handler.

After high school, Allison gained invaluable experience working at a veterinary clinic and a dog boarding facility, where she honed her skills in patient care, attention to detail, and working closely with dogs.

Allison holds multiple certifications in dog behavior, puppy training, and customer service, and she knows how to make lessons engaging and easy to follow for both dogs and their owners.
