This 5-week class will be held on consecutive Saturdays at 9 AM on the following dates: 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, and 3/22.

In this class, we will cover basic commands, obedience training, loose leash walking, and proper handling techniques to set you and your pup up for success!

We are thrilled to partner with Woodlands Doggie Village, LLC - Board Play Spa to bring you a new Group Obedience Training Class!

Training Tip Tuesday: How to Calm Down an Excited Dog

Managing an overexcited dog takes patience and the right approach. Use positive reinforcement by rewarding calm behavior with treats, affection, or playtime. Ignoring unwanted actions is just as important, teaching your dog that calmness leads to rewards.

Regular physical and mental stimulation is essential. Activities like walks, fetch, or puzzle toys help burn off energy and keep your dog engaged. A well-exercised dog is often a calmer dog, so aim for a balance of activity each day.

Pay attention to your dog’s body language. Signs like barking, hyperactivity, or a focused gaze may indicate overstimulation. Redirect with commands or calming activities, such as a chew toy or quiet time.

Brrr! The temperature is dropping, and it’s time to make sure your furry friend stays safe and happy this winter. Here are a few tips from The Dog Wizard Woodlands to keep tails wagging all season long:

1️⃣ Layer Up for Cool Mornings: Short-haired or small dogs might need a light sweater for those early morning walks.

2️⃣ Protect Their Paws: Cold pavement or damp ground can be uncomfortable for dogs. Check their paws after walks for any irritation.

3️⃣ Limit Outdoor Time on Windy Days: Even mild cold can feel harsher with strong winds. Keep an eye on your pup for signs of discomfort like shivering or curling up.

4️⃣ Hydration Matters: Cooler weather doesn’t mean dehydration stops! Make sure your dog has access to fresh water, especially during walks and playtime.

5️⃣ Indoor Fun: Rainy or chilly days are a great excuse to work on training, play tug-of-war, or try a treat puzzle indoors.
