It has been a busy couple of weeks with the start of school. But we are settling into new routines slowly and I'll be posting more.

This Saturday is a farm clean up day. We will be cleaning up all the old plants, adding rich compost and planting the seedlings that will give us blooms through winter. These work weekends are always a huge expense - but the compost is what allows us to grow organically and regenerates our soil. We do this twice a year and it's always a worthwhile investment.

You can almost feel autumn creeping in ... and so my thoughts turn to roses. I've been missing them in my garden for years. Well, not anymore! The awesome folks at worked with me and created a HEAT TOLERANT rose list for our home! They are having a huge sale for Labor Day, and I ordered them and some others! I hope that in a year or two, we can slowly start incorporating these blooms into our event work.

I'm also ridiculously excited to have cut roses for our home!!!

August. It's hot, y'all. We are going to take the rest of August to get ready for school and get the farm ready for fall. I'll be taking a break from social media, but we will still be delivering to , and we will still be taking orders. Keep hydrated and see you soon!

Rudbekia and one of my sweet interns. It was so hot, but my awesome interns made quick work of quickly planting put trays. It gave me the opportunity to harvest while they planted.

August is always really tough for farming due to Houston's heat and humidity. I am so thankful to have help!

Our sweet friends hosted us for tea, and we brought the flowers. It was a delightful morning and a wonderful opportunity to catch up about our summers.

Tip for guests: it is always thoughtful to bring flowers to your host. And as you can see from the photo, the flowers don't have to be grand. It truly is the thought that counts.

Family Update: Hello everyone! We are A-OK. Thankfully, we did not sustain any physical or structural damage during Bery. We are without power, but that is an inconvenience and not an emergency. (I'd rather that the elders in our community or those that need electricity get power first.)

Farm Update: The Mr. and I visited the farm this morning after about a week away. Very little damage and I'm so thankful most of our flower field was spared. That flower netting held like no-one's business! Kept the flowers upright in hurricane strength winds. CRAZY. We'll start flowers back up next week. :)

Hello, Flower Friends. Casa Martin is still without power, along with about 1M other Houstonians. But today, despite this inconvenience, we are thankful for:
1. Water - we still have running water.
2. Shelter - we did not sustain any structural damage.
3. Health - we are all still standing and keeping heat at bay.
4. Neighbors - we live in a wonderful community, and it has been a breath of fresh air to work with and connect with our neighbors during this time of need.
5. Faith - the nights are really weird, without a light anywhere in sight and when it gets scary, I rely on old hymns to calm me.

All the buckets and containers got a good wash. We regularly wash our buckets and tools to keep them squeaky clean. This means cut flowers are only getting deliciously cool, clean water - helping them last longer in your homes.

Tip: Change out your flower water every other day with cool, filtered refrigerator water. They will last longer.

Queen Zinnias. These specialty blooms scoff at the heat AND play well in all color combinations. They also have crazy strong stems. Pretty much the perfect flower. We use them a ton in our wedding and event work. They just add that special something.

Had the most wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

We kicked it off with a Floral Workshop on Friday night .

Two young men joined us and made bouquets for their moms! The sweetest!!!!

On Saturday, we had flowers and sold out by noon! (We brought additional flowers later.)

On Saturday, we also had Mason Jar pickups at our studio. It was so nice to see everyone!! Thank you for your support!

It was a busy week, and I'm going to take it easy at home today and tomorrow. But don't worry - market bouquets will be available at on Wednesday.

Always on the lookout for interesting foliage and flowers and this baptisia may just fit the bill! I cut a sample and am going to trial it in water over the next couple of days to see how it does. It sure us pretty!
