Armani is still looking for his forever home! His papers say he is a 50lb, 7 month old lab mix. But looking at his teeth, we really think he is closer to 2-3 years. And he clearly has some bully breed in him.
Armani is a sweet boy who was found on the side of the road and brought to the shelter where he was loved, but his time was up due to overcrowding. This is one of the most underfunded and overcrowded shelters in the Houston area. He was stuck in a crate in the hall area due to no open kennels for months.
We scooped him up and he is just loving life. He loves to explore the outdoors and does pretty well on the leash for never having been on one. He loves to curl up on his dog bed and get lots of sleep, but he also has a lot of energy and would love a family who will properly exercise him and take him to basic training.
We think young kids may be too much for him at this stage as he’s still learning to be a family pet. He does get along with other dogs, but can have an overwhelming play style so would need a playmate that can handle him or teach him corrections.

Armani
Meet Armani and his many faces. 🥰 He’s looking for a family who likes The Secret Life of Pets and other animal based movies. 😉 We have not broken the news to him yet that his forever home might not have a slide like in the movie. 🤫

Meet Ladybird, a true Underdog!
She is an approximately 8 month old Staffie mix puppy. Ladybird had a tough start in life but it hasn’t slowed her down!
Her story starts as a sad one. She was found tied to a table in a laundromat, laying on a blanket crying and unable to move. A lot of her teeth are missing her tongue stays flopped out to one side. She has scoliosis and a walking style all her own because of it.
She gets around just fine though and runs and plays with the other dogs as any puppy would. The vet said there is nothing to be done and later in life she may develop arthritis, but so could any dog!!
She’s happy and lovable friendly, affectionate, playful, and brave, and can’t wait to find a family to love her just the way she is.
Ladybird is available for adoption in MA, NH, VT and CT.
Meet Estrella (“Stella”) and Nala, the remaining puppies of a litter of four, found and taken in by a kind citizen. While their two sisters have found forever homes, Stella and Nala are still waiting.
Stella was a social butterfly right from the start, is a true adventurer, ready to meet people, offer snuggles, and, of course, play!!
Nala was a little shy at first but it didn’t take long for her to come out of her shell. She loves pets and kisses and, well…also, to play!!
About 4.5 months old and 25 lbs. Both are good with kids and other dogs. Both spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Either of these lovely ladies would be a wonderful addition to the family!
🐾FEEL•GOOD•FRIDAY🐾
Bonjo found himself on the euthanasia list at BARC at just 5 weeks old with some thinning fur.
Thanks for fosters stepping up, the Underdog Connection was able to pull him.
He has since traveled to New England and is thriving in his forever home with a beautiful fur coat!
This is a reminder that fostering truly saves lives. Please let us know if you are interested in fostering with us in the Houston area or New England!
And of course, happy tails, Bonjo!
The Underdog Connection team went to Houston last week!
It was an eye opening and emotional trip but we were so grateful to go and visit the shelters we did, and meet the dogs we could, and the volunteers that work so hard to rescue these dogs.
There's a reason we say "adopt don't shop," "fostering saves lives," "networking saves lives," etc. Without volunteers networking, and fosters stepping up, so many dogs wouldn't be here today, including the ones that the Underdog Connection was able to help last week!
The Underdog Connection was able to get 3 dogs off the street, 2 dogs off the euthanasia list, and 1 dog will soon be broken out of a Houston boarding facility with a foster lined up ❤️
Here's a snippet of our time in HTX.
We can't wait to help save more dogs!
