Ruth update!

We often wonder why and how such a small innocent soul ends up on the streets alone. At 5 weeks Ruth and Idgie were on the streets, finding food and comfort in a cat colony. Why were they alone? Where was their mom? Questions we rarely get answers to.

Lucky for both of them we saw them and were able to help them, especially Ruth! She would not have survived another 24 hours without medical intervention.

Ruth received a blood transfusion last night. She was severely anemic due to preventable circumstances. Intestinal parasites, fleas and malnutrition caused her severe decline in health.

She tolerated the transfusion well and is currently holding with a PCV of 26% (normal is 35%-55%). The ER staff says even with her ailments, she has some s***k and is a fighter. They have discontinued her glucose supplements and will be rechecking her PCV later this afternoon.

She is not completely out of the woods yet, but seems to be improving with each medical treatment she receives.

Ruth's medical cost are high, but seeing her react positively to the treatments reminds us we did the right thing! This girl wanted to live...she just needed some help! We have raised about $1500 of her $5k low end estimate. We have a generous donor who is offering to match the next $1000 raised dollar for dollar. 🚨 SOS: ALL OF OUR WASHING MACHINES ARE BROKEN, and we need new ones!

Our washers run almost constantly day in and day out. They work 10x as hard as a typical household washer, which unfortunately reduces their lifespan significantly. We know it's a big ask... Even if you can donate $5 towards a new washer, anything helps!!
