Hatching season has begun. I took the tray out of the incubator and when I turned around the grab paper towels to wipe the extra water off this egg pipped. It was not open when I took the tray out of the incubator. So magical.

These are my eastern black rat snakes. EBRS fill 3 desires of mine for reptile keeping. A big snake. A black snake. A reptile that is not common in the pet trade.

Pantherophis alleghaniensis has sometimes been considered a subspecies of Pantherophis obsoletus, to which it is closely related. In 2007, the scientific named changed from Elaphe alleghaniensis to Pantherophis alleghaniensis. These changes are causing confusion. Old articles need to be updated. One way to tell if the article is up to date is checking in the range includes any states that are west of the Appalachian mountains.

There few known morphs for the EBRS. The EBRS ranges from New York to South Carolina. They are great climbers, but are also known to hide in burrows. Pantherophis is the genus that includes the North American rat snakes.(this includes corn snakes) Their care is similar to corn snakes, but bigger. EBRS in the wild can top out just over 6 feet, but in captivity they are known for reaching 7 feet or longer.

Young eastern black rat snakes like most snakes have many predators in the wild. When EBRS grow to their adult sizes their are few predators left who can hunt them. As adults they have few things to fear, so even wild caught adults often make good pets.

Eastern Black Rat Snakes are not common in the pet trade because they are common in the wild to the point that someone could collect their own. This makes for a boring snake to keep in the areas that they are common. So they don't get much attention in the pet trade. Black colubrids (Colubridae) are rapidly gaining popularity in the north american pet trade. Mexican Black King Snakes, and the Black Milk Snake are costing around $300. A Hypermelanistic California Kingsnake can sell for as much as $1000.

I had my first clutch of the year be laid last night. I did not have room to set up my big incubator so I had to build a smaller incubator out of all of the extra foam I was saving for shipping materials. it took a few hours, but it is done, and hopefully it is big enough for this year's snake clutches

It is that time of the year.

Coridormi is my first snake for starting my Sundust breed line. She is an extreme reverse okeetee morph corn snake. her morph is Amelanistic + selective breeding to bring the black areas way up in size. In her case, EXTREME!

Her breed lines trace back to Steve Roylance from Srcorns in Sarasita, Florida and Jeff Cochran from Victoria, Virginia. She was bred by Claudia Flores of Claudia Reptiles in Las Vegas, NV.

Cordormi may only be a small part of my breeding plans, but her large okeetee areas will make sure that her part of my breed line has a great representation of black on them.

Coridormi has no known hets. What you see on her is what we can expect to get. Her mother is known as ERO , and her father is known as EROT

Acridostrasz (pronounced Ah-cry-doe-strasz) is a Peach Masque Tessera, het lavender & diffused, 50% het Amelanistic (half chance of having het amel het), 25% het Hypo, Anerythristic (Each het has a chance of 1 in 4 of being present).

Acride's Father, Norbert, is a Peach Plasma (diffused + masque + lavender) het amel, 50% het hypo, anery, bred by Genetically Morphed Reptiles. Acride's Mother, Ember, is from 2 wild caught in central Florida, but captive bred, looks redfactor, but unproven. Ember was purchased from Ben Siegel Reptiles.

Peach is an unusual new morph Terri House is working with under the tutelage of corn snake expert Don Soderberg. Breeding trials indicate this is an incomplete dominant morph. Color intensifies with maturity.

Acridostrasz was hatched August 17 2019, by Cleo's Kingdom Colubrids. In Los Angeles, California
