Now that you're intrigued, meet Barbie and Chloe! They're 2 smart, independent sisters who are looking for a forever home together! Rescued from a high-kill shelter, these gentle girls have come a long way from their semi-feral beginnings. They completed a board-and-train program where they made incredible progress and are now ready to settle into a loving home that understands their unique personalities.

Barbie and Chloe are both quiet and calm, thriving in a routine that allows them to be themselves. While they may not be the cuddly type, the will be forever grateful to join your family. Both play wonderfully with other dogs, and have grown to appreciate the comforts of indoor life. They're very smart and love to explore at their own pace.

These sisters are bonded and do everything together—from playing in the yard to resting peacefully in their shared kennel. They’ll do best in a patient home that respects their independence. Barbie and Chloe may not seek out constant attention, but their companionship and sweet nature will shine through.

Ours is definitely that all these good dogs STILL haven't been adopted. Black Dog Syndrome is seriously spooky. Black dogs often face unique challenges such as lower adoption rats, longer lengths of stay in shelters, and misconceptions about them seeing less friendly, more intimidating, or even unlucky. These good boys and girls are anything but scary!

Bishop is looking for his forever home! He’d love a nice calm home to call his own. Bishop is dog, cat and people friendly. He truly just wants a sunspot in a yard, and someone to let him be himself.

Bishop has been waiting for years for his forever home. Recently, his foster had to stop fostering him as well, and we haven’t been able to find him somewhere else to land. Poor Bishop is in boarding wondering when his luck will change.

It’s hard for a cute pittie to get into the spooky, celebratory mood while still waiting to be adopted.

Otto loves (tolerates?) dress up. He is good with fellow dogs and cats as well. Otto would love nothing more than to cuddle up on Halloween with a new family and a scary movie marathon.

Choose your goof ball! Knight, dino, wizard, or just himself?

Rusty Roo is cute in all forms! Dog, cat, people friendly— Rusty can do it all. He walks well on a leash. He loves to play and cuddle. He is a great dog that will complete any family.

Rusty has sadly been waiting forever for his forever home. He’s had a patient foster that’s never given up on him. We’d love to see him celebrating this upcoming holiday season with a family of his own.

We are delighted to share that Lady Sable has been adopted! She was rescued from the streets in December 2022 by our founder Courtney. It took all this time to find her perfect family, but they’re so in love with her already.

Anyone volunteering in rescue right now knows that adoptions are down, and have been taking longer. This is such a victory and we are really proud to be part of her story.

Bishop needs a foster or adopter urgently!

He’s a chocolate lab. Bishop was picked up as a stray in 2020 and taken to a high kill shelter. The day he was set to be euthanized a lady sprung him as a foster and had no rescue come forward in spite of several pleas for FOUR years!

Bishop has waited all this time, not having a forever family, not having someone that calls him their own. We stepped up for Bishop and he’s currently in boarding. He needs a place to land NOW. This guy deserves to be in a home, it’s been too long.

Someone stepped up for him as a foster, then backed out TWICE the day he was supposed to move to their home from boarding.

He’s very easy, super chill, dog and cat friendly (not really interested). He’s on a thyroid med that we will supply. He’s 7yrs old, great on walks and car rides, neutered, UTD on shots, HW negative, does not like to be kenneled, he’s not destructive at all, he’s a little shy with new people but warms up quickly.

Someone give this senior boy a chance!!

We are really sad to share that neither Bishop nor Otto have fosters, or adopters right now.

Otto (on the right) was a street rescue, that after nearly TWO YEARS got adopted finally! Then, through no fault of his own, he was returned when his family's housing situation changed and it was no longer in his best interest to be there. We no longer have an open foster for him, so he's sadly in boarding.

Bishop (on the left) lost his family due to medical emergencies they faced and then his foster went through the same thing. Bishop is in boarding, and we worry he will shut down if he doesn't go back into a home environment soon.

Both Otto and Bishop are extremely good dogs! Both are dog friendly. Otto loves toys, frisbee, the pool, and playing. Bishop honestly just wants a sunny or soft place to lounge. Both boys are a little shy upon meeting, but settle in to being best friends with their people.

Please, please share with someone that may be interested in fostering or adopting either of them. We desperately need more fosters.

Hey my name is Rusty! I came here to steal hearts! I’m about 4 years old and very social. I have a lot of love to give and absolutely love to cuddle up.

I was found tied to a tree with minimal shelter in this hot Texas heat. A nice lady took me in and found me a temporary home. Now I’m looking for something more permanent.

An ideal home for me would be someone who wants to play, cuddle, and take me on exploring walks. I’m great with dogs and don’t mind cats.

Bishop’s looking sideways at that thermometer this week! Where’s the cooler weather so he can enjoy his sun spot?

Bishop is about 7 years old and looking for his forever home. He’s loyal, loving, gentle and has a laid back personality. He loves cheese. He likes other dogs, and has been in foster homes with as many as five dogs. Bishop is a tad shy, but he really just wants people that want to spend time with him, to go on walks and to occasionally get a car ride going anywhere but the vet!

Bishop’s perfect day would be eating breakfast, taking a nap after breakfast, going on a walk during the day, and then cuddling up with you after a good chewy treat! Then sunbathing out in the yard!

Otto is waiting for something to celebrate — like oh, getting adopted!

Otto is dog, cat, and human friendly. He’s presently in boarding looking for someone to break him out as a foster or adopter.

He loves learning new puzzles, playing with others, and snuggling up to his people. Otto would prefer a home that understands he’s shy upon first meeting new people. Once you’re in the club though, he’s loyal for life!

Talli is a wiggly, spunky, fun young adult. She is currently in a foster home with three other dogs that she plays the little sister role for. Talli loves play time, toys, treats, and ruling the roost.

We just can't get over how adoringly she'll look up at you -- I mean, as long as you have treats in the hand that is!

Miles wants a best friend that will be his advocate. Miles would do best in an only dog home, but is capable of coexisting with female dogs. He loves outings (going to parks, Home Depot, car rides, exploring the world).

Wonton was brought into BARC as an injured stray! Sarah Ibison stepped up like she does so often to say we could take him. This sweet boy had a successful leg amputation this past Wednesday. We’re so happy to give him a fresh start in life!

This is Goose (as in silly goose)! Goose needs a Houston foster. He’s a sweet heart with an injured leg. His finders live in a small trailer with kids and a dog and cats. Bringing him inside isn’t an option for them. They’ve been gracious enough to hold him in their yard until we can find someone to take over! He’s been friendly meeting their dog and kids.
