Our mission is to provide a safe and loving environment for animals in need and to find them forever homes. We rely on our dedicated network of fosters and volunteers to help us achieve our mission. Small wins from our week:

Kiki who was 15oz when she came to us is now 1.7lbs!

Wednesday made it off the euth list alive!

Riley had a foster meet and greet after being stuck in boarding for so long!

Talli said yes to the Valentine's photoshoot, but she's looking for more than just a February fling! Real talk: A dog is a 10-15 year commitment (that's like 70-105 years in dog math!). We've seen too many "quick romances" end with broken hearts and returned pups after the honeymoon phase ends.

But here's what we LOVE to see: families who understand that adopting means sticking together through the waggy tails AND the occasional chewed shoes. Through the perfect walks AND the 3am potty emergencies. Through the kisses AND the vet bills.

Because when you're ready for that kind of love? It's the most rewarding relationship you'll ever have.

Today we're celebrating someone special - our co-founder Rachell Jones! ♥️

From late-night rescue calls to networking dogs on euthanasia lists, Rachell's dedication to saving lives has been unstoppable since Hurricane Michael inspired her to jump into animal rescue in 2018. When she connected with Courtney over Facebook (where all the best rescue partnerships begin!), magic happened. What started with saving one dog named Ryder has grown into hundreds of lives saved and counting.

Rachell, thank you for being the heart behind so many happy adoption stories and for proving that distance is no match for determination when it comes to saving lives.

Sometimes the greatest Blessings come in the most unexpected packages. Last month, this sweet girl was found alone in the middle of a road in Dickinson.

Thanks to a kind stranger and an attentive shelter director who noticed something wasn't quite right, Blessing made her way to VCA Animal Hospital where she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure.

When no one came forward to claim her, our rescue stepped in, and on Christmas Eve, she found her way to her loving foster home. Talk about a holiday miracle! 🎄

This Thursday, Blessing has an important vet appointment for bloodwork and medication evaluation. While her heart condition means she needs extra care, her foster family reports that she's absolutely thriving on love, attention, and regular naps!

Rusty and Talli are in the same foster home. Both are great with the two resident dogs. Their fosters say they’re both cuddle bugs, and both love posing for the camera as long as there are treats involved.

Both of these dogs are on our priority list to get adopted this year! Pronto! They’re great dogs that we think if we lived anywhere other than an overpopulated city that’s full of dogs begging to be adopted they would’ve been adopted themselves already.

Barbie goes nuts for treats! 🤣

When Barbie first came to us, years ago now, she was avoidant, scared, and felt she had to keep her distance for safety. Her tail was often tucked and she crawled around the perimeters.

Now Barbie actively seeks out treats from us and will make sure she isn’t skipped in the line. She loves to play and she trusts her humans she sees regularly. We are so incredibly proud to be part of her story, but it’s not quite done.

Barbie, and her sister Chloe, are ready to move into an adoptive home.

They would love to coexist with someone that would hand out treats, and let them cuddle up in a blanket pile together in the evenings. Is that your home?

Talli is great with other dogs, a young adult, and loves to be with her people. Talli was saved from the streets where she was dumped as a mange covered puppy that needed surgery. Now, she’s healed, and ready for her forever fam.

🎄 Look who visited Santa in New Hampshire! Meet Zeus, one of our Texas-to-NH transplants who is still dreaming of a forever home this holiday season!

This sweet boy has had quite the story - from being surrendered by his owner, to spending time at Harris County Pets in Texas, to traveling North to a rescue that ultimately failed them before we stepped in, he has shown incredible resilience! While his path hasn’t been easy, his spirit remains bright and his heart full of hope! 🌟

Dear Santa Paws,

I'm going to ask for the same thing I did last year, a home to call my own. I've been waiting a long time. I'm so stinking cute, so I don't get it!

I'm in "boarding," but I run around out in the country with the best person ever, Jonathan from Dignity Dog (he's on the ). Courtney and Sara-Katherine come and visit us while they work hard to find my perfect foster or adopter.

Can you help look with us? I want someone that lets me play dress up, eat lots of treats, let's me give a LOT of kissess, and doesn't have any other dogs or cats.

Santa, you may think I'm kidding about the dress up part. Ask the Forgotten Coast people and they'll show you me as a hula girl, a sailor, a princess -- all kinds of things!

Christmas is coming, so please work fast. I really wanna wake up in a house that smells like pine tree with a box full of toys with my name on it.

Please enjoy 1 minute of Miles' destroying a stuffed toy under supervision 😂 He is 1 part performer, 1 part loving goof, and 1 part slobber. This big guy is a young 4-year-old boxer mix that's willing to work and earn your affection! Miles' ideal home is an experienced family that has a soft spot for big guys like him. He will thrive in an active home that can provide patience, routine, and structure. Miles wants a best friend that will be his advocate. Miles would do best in an only dog home, but is capable of coexisting with female dogs. He loves outings (going to parks, Home Depot, car rides, exploring the world). Miles is highly treat-motivated and EXTREMELY eager to please. He walks well on a leash, and has mastered all basic obedience commands in any environment. Wonton was brought into BARC as an injured stray! Sarah Ibison stepped up like she does so often to say we could take him. This sweet boy had a successful leg amputation this past Wednesday. We’re so happy to give him a fresh start in life!
