As we approach closer and closer to the time fireworks start going off remember to keep your pups safe!

1- Break out those special filled kongs and chew sticks.

2- Play some fun music to help dampen the noise.

3- Take your pups out to potty on a leash!!

Stay safe out there!

Houston, it's that time of year again! Always remember to check the temperature of the ground before you let your pet walk on it. The hot asphalt injures countless pets each year. It's more dangerous than you think! Check out our blog post where share tips to help you and your pup keep your daily walks safe as well as signs and symptoms to look out for in case your pup has an injury! https://overyondercanine.weebly.com/blog/hot-houston-pavement-is-more-dangerous-than-you-realize

[Image description: A light blue infographic displays infromation about hot asphalt. At the top of the image there are multicolored paw prints with a small brown and white dog running on the right hand side. In brown text the title reads, “Is the ground too hot for my paws?” Under the title is a small comparison chart showing the air versus asphalt temperature difference. 77 degrees farenheight in the air equals 125 degrees farenheight on the ground. 86 degrees is 135, 87 degrees is 143, and 102 degrees in farenheight is 167 degrees on the ground. To the right of this comparison chart is a list. “Beat the heat and keep your pet safe during these hot summer days. 1. Walk when it’s cooler. 2. Stick to the grass! 3. Wear protective paw gear. At the bottom of the grapic there is another line of text. “At 125 degrees farenheight skin destruction can happen in just 60 seconds. It it’s too hot for youre bare feet - it’s too hot for theirs!” To the left of this lone of text is the Over Yonder Canine logo.]

This is a fantastic visual representation of the work that goes into teaching ONE command to a pup!

It’s hard work but the work is worth it!

We are soooo excited to officially share our handout on the Stages of Training. Thank you Doggie Drawings by Lili Chin for bringing this to life! This handout is used for clients to follow their dog's training progress!
It goes through all the stages of learning:
1. Acquisition (get the behavior)
2. Fluency (add the cue)
3. Generalization (proof the behavior)
4. Maintenance (maintain the behavior)

Edit to clarify:
1. This is FREE for you to use/make copies of for clients, but not the edit.
2. “As taught by Jean Donaldson” refers to Push, Stick, Drop

Thanks for all the support! 🐾💙🐾
