🐾 Pet vs. Wild Animal: Understanding the Difference! 🐾

At Champions Forest Animal Clinic, we love all animals—whether they have fur or scales! But when it comes to pet care, there’s a big difference between a domesticated pet and a wild animal.

✅ Domesticated Pets – Animals like dogs 🐶, cats 🐱, and rabbits 🐇 have been bred for generations to live alongside humans. They depend on us for food, shelter, and medical care, thriving in a home environment.

🌿 Domesticated Wildlife – Some wild animals, like squirrels and raccoons, can be raised in captivity and adapt to human care. Many of our clients have had these unique pets for years! However, they require specialized diets, enrichment, and vet care tailored to their species.

🚫 Wild Animals – Animals found in nature are best left there! Even if they seem friendly or in need, their natural instincts and dietary needs make them unsuitable as household pets. If you find an injured or orphaned wild animal, always contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for help.

💬 Have a unique pet? We’re happy to help with their care! Call Champions Forest Animal Clinic for expert advice and veterinary services. 📞❤️

Every year, approximately 6.3 million pets enter U.S. shelters, and many are the result of unplanned litters.

Spaying and neutering can help lower the number of unwanted pets that lead to overcrowded shelters, hurting the chances of available pets finding a loving home.

If you need to schedule your pets spay or neuter procedure, please call us today.

💖 This Valentine’s Day, show your pet some extra love while keeping them safe – and help keep other pets safe by sharing this post!

Here are a few Valentine’s pet safety tips to keep in mind:

-Keep chocolate, candy, and treats with xylitol far out of reach—they’re toxic to pets!
-Watch out for flowers like lilies, which are especially dangerous for cats.
-Be mindful of lit candles and decorations that curious paws might knock over.
-Secure ribbons, strings, and wrappers to avoid accidental ingestion.

Wishing you and your pets a safe and sweet Valentine’s Day!
