Your pet's health is of utmost importance, and regular veterinary exams play a crucial role. However, it's common for pets to feel anxious or nervous during these exams due to the unfamiliar "petting" techniques. To help ease their discomfort, practice examinations at home with plenty of treats and positive reinforcement. By doing so, your furry friend will learn to trust the process and feel more comfortable during future vet visits.

🙅‍♀️🍫 Beware of foods that can be HARMFUL to your furry friends!

🐾 While your pet may be begging for a taste of your meal, some human foods can cause serious health issues, such as chocolate, xylitol, grapes, meat bones, garlic, onions, and yeast dough. When it comes to your pets' health, it's better to be safe than sorry, so avoid feeding them any human food!🚫

🚫 Many commercial insecticides contain organophosphates, which can be POISONOUS to dogs if ingested. Symptoms may include excessive salivation, trembling, and seizures. 🦟 Beware pet owners! Heartworms can be a serious threat to your furry friend's health.

😢 When a mosquito bites an infected dog, they ingest heartworm larvae, which can mature in the mosquito before being transmitted to the next pet the insect bites. In dogs, heartworms can mature to adulthood, mate, and produce offspring in their heart, causing significant health problems. While cats are atypical hosts, immature heartworms can still cause them health problems. 🐾

Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your pet’s health care plan.

If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team by calling (713) 526-1306, so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your pet’s lifestyle.

Identifying and eliminating your pet’s trigger is an effective way to reduce excessive barking. To do this, observe your pet’s behavior and determine what environmental stimuli prompt them to bark.

Then, try to change or eliminate the trigger. For example, if your dog barks at people walking by your house, consider blocking their visual access to the window or door, or move their bed to another room.

Similarly, if your dog barks at the sound of the doorbell, try placing a sign on your door asking visitors to text instead of ringing the bell. By eliminating or changing the trigger, you can help your pet feel calmer and reduce their barking.
