Hello!

With kitten season just around the corner and people already finding pregnant cats in their yards, barns, and places of business, we wanted to take the time to remind our followers that our intakes are closed, and we are not accepting any cats or kittens into the shelter.

We are still trying to find homes for all of our current residents and cannot afford to be suddenly overwhelmed with new cats, as we will not be able to support them, and that is not in the best interest of the cats or the caring people who are trying to help by wanting to bring them to us.

❤ Some resources and things to consider if you are trying to rehome a cat:

- Utilize Nextdoor.com to find original owners or potential fosters/adopters
- Post on Adoption, Rescue, and Rehoming groups on Facebook
- Check the homepage of our website for a list of other rescues and shelters in the Greater Houston Area and beyond
- Check the homepage of our website for links to Adopt A Pet's Rehome service, and use our rescue code to reduce your listing fee
- Look into the local TNR (Trap Neuter Release) programs, such as through the city you reside in, Operation Pets Alive (OPA), Texas Litter Control, or Citizens for Animal Protection
- Post flyers in nearby neighborhoods or in local businesses (after receiving permission)

🚨 URGENT NEED FOR A DRIVER 🚨

We are looking for a volunteer to help us transport some of our cats to and from an adoption event at the Magnolia PetSmart location this upcoming Saturday.

The ideal volunteer for this position:
- Has a valid drivers license and reliable transportation with room for up to three medium sized cat carriers
- Can commit to the time necessary to transport the cats to the event, wait for it to be completed, and bring any cats not adopted and their carriers back to the shelter (approximately 5 hours max total, including drive time)
- Is comfortable with handling cats

Any and all information on the cats, including their veterinary records, would be sent with the volunteer to be given to the rescue running the adoption event and in turn the adopters of those cats.

The weather may be getting nice and cozy, but unfortunately it is hard to enjoy it when we have to explain to the kitties that we cannot afford the care that they need.

We love sharing all of the fun aspects of the shelter with you, and there is so much joy to be found! But sometimes, unfortunately, we have to share the ugly truth as well.

Donations are at an all time low, and everyone at Adopt A Cat is feeling the effects of it.

Staff cannot be paid, vet bills are piling up, utilities are past due, and our Director is almost 86 years old and doing the very best that she can to keep us going in a positive direction.

But we need YOUR help. If every person that follows us on social media donated just $1, we could raised over $32,000 in just one day!

Imagine the impact if each of our followers shared this post with two people, who shared it with two more, and two more, and so on.

Please, please, consider the making a contribution to the rescue, or sharing our mission with those around you.

Want an easy way to support us for FREE in just a couple of minutes? We've got just the thing!

The PetPlace Heroic Hearts Collective is accepting nominations from supporters and community members like you to highlight animal rescue organizations that are making an impact in their community and lives of the animals in their care.

Whether it's a story from your time with us as a volunteer, a fond memory of adopting your furrever friend from the sanctuary, or you are discovering us for the first time and want to extend a kindness to a non-profit, these are all things that you could include in your nomination!

From now until March 21, 2025, Heroic Hearts Collective will be accepting submissions, and at the end of the nomination period five lucky organizations will be selected randomly to receive one of several amazing prizes, including a $1,000 donation!
