Merry almost Christmas!
I wanted to take a moment to say a BIG thank you to all our wonderful supporters! It warms my heart to know that there are in fact caring individuals in this world and recognize that our dog's matter, regardless of age or ability.
We take in dogs who are often already in the double digits, mobility is poor, they can hardly hear, maybe they are blind in one or both eyes and probably more things going on that we can't see from the surface. I look at those dogs, and my heart instantly melts. But that's me, and I have never understood why some out there don't feel the same way. I worried that when I first started this rescue almost five years ago now, that people would not care. People often want puppies, or dogs at least middle aged.
But as it turns out, there are many senior and special needs dog lovers out there and we do have support. You all have lifted me up on days where I have questioned whether or not to keep going. I can recall a few years ago, sitting in a vet's office, tears in my eyes because I had no way to cover the bill. Not enough in donations, I had already maxed out my credit, and not enough of my own money to cover. In that moment I felt like the biggest failure alive because here was this senior who needed me and I had nothing more I could give. But then, our community stepped up at the last minute in full force. Everything was taken care of, and it felt like I could breathe again.
Now we have Raven's bill which totaled over $11,000 and as of today we have $2,700 remaining. The boarding facility is needing this paid off sooner than later and I can feel that constant squeeze, but we are trying and thanks to you all, we are so close. So, all this to say, thank you for seeing what I see.
