A three-legged shelter dog named Maci doesn’t understand why people continue to pass her by. She is a sweet dog who loves to run, play, and cuddle.

Last August she arrived at the shelter emaciated with a badly broken leg. The vet decided to amputate the leg to give her the best chance at a normal life.

After months of recovery in a foster home, Maci is ready to find her person. Her foster family shared that not much slows her down. “Maci is so spunky and sweet! She plays hard but she also knows how to settle herself. She loves to cuddle and be the center of attention, every time we went into the clinic for her appointments she would go around the room and say ‘hello’ to EVERY SINGLE person. She does not know a stranger!”

Sadly, people walked right by her kennel at the shelter when they see she is missing a leg.

The Origin of America’s Favorite Nursery Rhyme:Davy Crockett's older sister, Effie Crockett was invited to help some mothers in the Muskogee Tribe. Once she arrived in camp, Effie laughed at what she saw. The Muskogee Tribe had a custom of cradling their pappooses among the swaying branches of birch trees. This protected their babies from ground insects, the sun, and wild animals.
After first finding it funny, she soon learned all the great reasons for this practice and marveled at the beauty of it.
Effie watched the swaying and soothing motion of the topmost branches of the trees. She loved how each baby enjoyed nature, how they listened to the songbirds, observed every ladybug, and smiled at the colors of a butterfly, every little breeze was felt and enjoyed by these young ones; each babe seemed perfectly content.
One of the Tribal mothers began to sing a song to the children in her native tongue. As the Muskogee mother sang, Miss Effie observed a small tear running down the mother’s cheek.
Lulu se pepe i le pito i luga o le laau,
A agi le matagi e luluina le moega pepe,
A gau le lala e paʻu ai le moega pepe,
Ma o le a sau i lalo pepe, moega pepe ma mea uma.
Effie translated the words and kept the tune. She shared it with everyone and it soon became a wildly popular nursery rhyme among the Colonies.
The English translation:
Rock-a-bye baby on the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock,
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all.
Why did the Muskogee mother cry?
A “bough” is simply a tree branch, and its breaking was used by the Muskogee mothers as an analogy of their little baby growing up.
Their little baby would soon outgrow his cradle. With each gently rocking wind, time was passing. One day, little baby would no longer need the protection of his mother. One day, the “branch” would break because her little baby had become too heavy. The “cradle” would fall to the earth – the child, no longer a baby, would dust himself off and grow into a man.
The now famous lullaby was first printed in Mother Goose’s Melody.
The rest is history.

A Very Worthy Read ❤️
Keanu Reeves was abandoned by his father at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter died at birth. His wife died in a car accident.

His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister has leukemia.
And with everything that has happened, Keanu Reeves never misses an opportunity to help people in need. When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants; One cried because he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 and on the same day Keanu deposited the necessary amount in the woman's bank account; He also donated stratospheric sums to hospitals.
In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery and bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him.
After winning astronomical sums for the Matrix trilogy, the actor donated more than $50 million to the staff who handled the costumes and special effects - the true heroes of the trilogy, as he called them.
He also gave a Harley-Davidson to each of the stunt doubles. A total expense of several million dollars. And for many successful films, he has even given up 90% of his salary to allow the production to hire other stars.
In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours.
Most stars when they make a charitable gesture they declare it to all the media. He has never claimed to be doing charity, he simply does it as a matter of moral principles and not to look better in the eyes of others.
This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: To be a good person.

Muscogee actor Will (Sonny) Sampson, who is most known for his role in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest” playing opposite Jack Nicholson, will be posthumously inducted into the Oklahoma Movie Hall of Fame at the Roxy Theater in Muskogee Oklahoma.
"Will was a dear friend, as was his son Tim and sister. Am happy that he is receiving this honor today. I had the privilege to work with Will in the mini-series 'Mystic Warrior' (1984). He gave me advice while working on this series. I was set to have the lead role and Will was to be cast as the medicine man. What happened was ABC ended up casting the lead role to an Irish actress, dyed her hair black and put contact lenses in and Will's character went to an Italian actor.' Will was a kind man and very supportive of my work. In 1983, he founded the American Indian Registry for the Performing Arts for Native American actors." - Joanelle Romero (RNCI Founder/actress/director/producer)

Photographer Frank Rinehart took this magnificent photo of Pete Mitchell of the Ponca tribe. Rinehart spent a lot of time photographing the Native American people and their way of life. He wanted to capture their stories and each individual personality through his photos.
The goal was for non-indigenous people to get a glimpse into the their lives and begin to understand them. This photo was taken in 1898, during the Omaha Indian Congress in Nebraska, which was the biggest gathering of Native American tribes of its kind.

❤️Keanu Reeves, a Canadian film talent, has gone through a lot of hardships in his life. From a young age, he faced abandonment from his father, and grew up under the care of three different stepfathers. Not only that, Keanu also struggled with dyslexia and his dream of becoming a hockey player was crushed by a serious accident.

❤️In addition, he also experienced painful losses, such as the death of his newborn daughter and his wife in a car accident. Keanu also lost his best friend, River Phoenix, to a drug overdose, and currently, his sister is battling leukemia.

❤️Despite all the suffering, Keanu Reeves is still known for his kindness and generosity. A prime example is when he helped a financially struggling wardrobe assistant while filming “The Lake House” by depositing $20,000 directly into her account. He has also donated large sums of money to hospitals and charities, doing so without any promotion.

❤️In this photo, he is holding a T-shirt with a message about the divisions in American society, reflecting Keanu’s interest in social and political issues. -> Get yours tee 👇👇

📸 Historic Photo: Geronimo and Family - A Glimpse into HistoryThis photograph, taken on March 14, 1904, likely in the studio of H. H. Clarke in Oklahoma City, captures a poignant moment in history featuring Eva Geronimo, Geronimo, and Emily Chihuahua.
Eva Geronimo Godeley, born on September 23, 1889, was the beloved daughter of Zi-yeh and the renowned warrior Geronimo. Despite his fierce reputation, Geronimo showed tender love for his daughter, often seen carrying Eva in a stroller or indulging her requests during shopping trips.
In 1897, the artist Eldridge Ayer Burbank painted both Geronimo and Eva, noting how kind Geronimo was to his young daughter. Eva’s life, though tragically short, was filled with love and family. She passed away from tuberculosis on August 10, 1911, just shy of her 22nd birthday.
Emily Chihuahua Tee, born on July 5, 1889, was another remarkable woman in this photo. She was the daughter of Ilth-gozey and Chihuahua. Emily’s life was also marked by love and resilience. After the death of her first husband, she remarried and continued to build her family. Sadly, Emily passed away on March 30, 1909.
These stories remind us of the rich and complex histories of the people behind the names we often hear in history. They were not just warriors or leaders but also fathers, daughters, and wives who lived, loved, and endured. 🌿
