WELL, HEY! 👋🏼 Kristen here. I've had a lot going on. Like giving birth to a HUMAN baby on December 30, 2023 👶🏼 So what does a six-week post-partum first-time mom do on February 14, 2024 when she sees THIS DOG on the euthanasia list at ? Obviously, I go get him. We are honored to be fostering this amazingly near-perfect house hippo. He deserves a home just as wonderful as he is! 🐕

Since my hands are tied almost 24/7 with the baby, it's taken me much longer than anticipated to get the word out about this guy. He is NOT meant to be a secret! EVERYONE deserves to know Tino - because Tino wants to know EVERYONE. He is an enthusiast for walkies and I believe it's so that he doesn't miss an opportunity to cross paths with his potential new family. He stares longingly at any hint of a human. *Tino's brain: Is a car parking? Well, obviously, we need to stop and wait for the human who is about to emerge! Are those kiddos playing at the park? We should obviously head that direction!*

💕 Tino is 100% a people dog who also enjoys the company of other dogs. We aren't quite sure if he's cat friendly (but we can update y'all on that if Winston ever wants to stop being a grump so we can try to properly introduce them). He is also WONDERFUL for bath time, sits by the back door when he needs to go out, and is so completely gentle with our baby. He would be such a perfect addition to ANY family.

❤️‍🩹 Adopting Tino would mean that he could receive FREE heartworm treatment for his currently high heartworm positive diagnosis. He does have a cough but with monthly prevention and, again, the FREE medical treatment for this condition that BARC provides to his adoptive family, I believe Tino can easily kick the worms. He also has a slight limp that doesn't seem to cause him any pain. BARC did perform xrays and nothing is broken. It'd be worth following up with an orthopedic specialist if his new family wants to dive deeper.

We love hosting this guy. Am I extra exhausted with a newborn AND a new dog? lol yep. But rescuing a dog from the euthanasia list is never something you regret. I'm so glad he's alive to find his forever. Can y'all help me get the word out? xo

Delayed honeymoon *and* babymoon bound! We are headed out of the country and will return July 10th.

Our teammates are on deck for coverage! Please reach out via the client portal if you need anything at all and I'll do my best to respond while away, although my service may be limited.

I'm already missing my Boo girl and can't wait to get back to all our little friends. But whewww, we have *crawled* to this finish line and this pregnant lady deserves a break!

Dearest friends,

Kingston The Great took his final breath in my arms on Monday, November 7, 2022. My husband and I miss him terribly. We are so grateful to have such loving friends - humans and dogs alike, family, and clients that are just like friends and family to support us while we grieve.

Kingston was also a friend to so many. Thank you for loving my best dude with me.

Want to live in Thailand while helping rescued dogs? Lanta Animal Welfare is recruiting a dog behaviorist for their staff. What a dream and a wonderful opportunity.

WANTED – DOG BEHAVIORIST

Come and work with us on the beautiful tropical island of Koh Lanta in Thailand.

Lanta Animal Welfare has an incredible opportunity for a qualified dog behaviorist.

We are a non-profit charity that rehabilitate dogs that have been abandoned or born on the streets and help get them ready for adoption to loving homes all over the world.

WE NEED YOUR HELP ASAP!

This is an amazing opportunity for the right person who wants to make a difference to these wonderful rescue dogs’ lives, at the same time as learning about Thai culture and enjoying Island life.

We currently have around 60 dogs in our care, most in groups of 5-8 in outside areas.

We are looking for someone to work onsite at our centre in Koh Lanta, but we are happy for you to devote time to your own clients, too.

Are you…

🐾 A qualified behaviorist, preferably with rescue/shelter experience?

🐾 Committed to using positive, force-free techniques?

🐾 A people person with good communication skills and able to work as part of a team?

🐾 Eager to help our dogs make the transition into home life and support adopters with behaviour advice?

🐾 Physically fit and not afraid to get your hands dirty?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above, we really want to hear from you.

Please send your CV and client references to our founder, Junie Kovacs, at [email protected]

It’s about to get even colder outside as sleet, ice and freezing temperatures come to the Houston area early next week. During these frosty days, the Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center of Texas urges Houstonians and those in the surrounding areas to keep an eye out for wildlife in need. You can help wild birds survive the cold by putting out warm water to drink when birdbaths freeze over and by putting out extra birdseed or suet. Help mammals like opossums by cutting a hole in an old Styrofoam or plastic drink cooler. Fill it with straw or soft materials to make an easy and cost effective shelter. Many mammals and some birds have already started their spring nesting season, and freezing rain can be hard on young babies. If you find any cold, wet wildlife on the ground, put them in a box with soft rags and a warm water bottle, rice sock, or low heating pad until you can get to the wildlife center. Do not feed or give water to any injured or orphaned wildlife. To donate to help wildlife in need, visit www.wildlifecenteroftexas.org/donate.
