Good Neighbors Animal Rescue

Good Neighbors Animal Rescue Keeping Pets Out of Shelters in Texas by Promoting Fostering, Spaying & Neutering, Vaccinating, Resp MOST IMPORTANTLY spaying and neutering to STOP the cycle.

Prevention is the best medicine by spaying and neutering to solve the Pet Overpopulation problem in Texas. GNAR volunteers scoop up litters of stray kittens, pregnant mommas, stray dogs, orphans, and ferals, bring them to foster homes and to vet clinics, and makes them healthy, adoptable pets or TNR. This keeps hundreds to thousands of animals from entering Texas shelters where they have a high ch

ance of being euthanized. Donations are tax deductible & may be made via :

Boysen got his big boy vaccines and microchip at Emancipet Low Cost Clinic today! He was SO GOOD, patient and calm the whole time. We aren't sure that he isn't just a stuffy toy with such good behavior, except that he is way too smart to be just that! Donate to help more stray & homeless puppies get vaccinated and ready for new homes! Venmo -animalrescue

Adoption Announcement:
Kazz is happy, sweet, obedient and well-socialized and doesn't have any bad habits, even for his young age. He is a gentle old soul who lovingly greets everyone, both two-legged and four-legged soon to be friends. He adapts easily and tries to quickly follow rules.
Jason, Deborah, their teenage son and two cats are ready to bring Kazz home! They had a sweet dog of their own named Rokhea. Unfortunately, he was very ill and passed away. Throughout the five years they had him, they were very dedicated to Rokhea to make sure he lived the happiest life he could live and got the best medical treatment possible. They loved him dearly, and in the same way, plan to love Kazz.
Congratulations, everyone!💖

Congratulations!!!
Big family, big yard and even bigger heart ready to love a new dog!💗
Erika and Joshua, along with her mother and three children, are so excited about starting this chapter in their lives alongside with Xanadu! They can’t wait to see her running around and playing with her in their huge backyard. 🤗
Xanadu was found as a stray in a neighborhood between 45 North and the Hardy Toll Road in Houston. She was in rough shape with bald patches, rashes, thin coat and skinny. She hung around and slept on her finders front porch for a week until GNAR volunteers could find her a foster home placement and now a forever home!🐕‍🦺
Xanadu is so sweet, gentle and well behaved! She genuinely gets along with everyone and all other dogs. She is polite, patient, trusting and loves being around people. She doesnt make any waves except maybe when she sees a squirrel in the backyard! She will love being outside, as well as curling up on the couch. Though she doesn't demand much attention or anyone to constantly watch over her, she will truly appreciate someone from her new family always being around!
Let the happy memories begin! 💫

Rumil, the smart and handsome kitty formerly known as “Flamingo”, has a new home!
Congratulations and many thanks to Luciano for opening his heart and home to Rumil. He drove all the way from Port Arthur to pick him up! He is a kind, responsible and caring pet owner whose goal is to bond with Rumil and provide a safe and loving forever home. Rumil has settled right in and is enjoying himself already.

WHAT CAN YOU DO? Be a Good Neighbor. There are several things you can do in your own neighborhood to help prevent the suffering of animals.
— If someone is moving away, ask them if they are taking their pets. Abandonment is a crime, and while many shelters and rescues are unable to take in as many animals as are in need, there are still options. If your neighbors are unable to take their pets with them, find out how you can help prevent an animal ending up on the streets, whether calling around to shelters or offering to foster until a space becomes available at a shelter.
— If you have neighbors with free-roaming cats, ask if they’ve been fixed. Any outdoor roaming cat (or dog) should be fixed or kept strictly indoors. (Remember that kittens begin breeding at only 16 weeks of age!) Encourage your neighbors to keep all unaltered pets indoors until they can visit a clinic or veterinarian.
— Become a foster family
With limited staff and volunteers currently working at shelters, fostering an animal is a great way to help ease the burden on short-staffed shelters. It’s also a wonderful way to help socialize animals to help them become more adoptable.
— Contact local shelters and ask about their foster program. They will give you all the support and supplies you need, whether it’s caring for a litter of kittens or giving a dog a break from the stress of life in a kennel. Also, by helping to free up space in a shelter, the shelter will be better able to help take in animals who are strays or owner surrenders.
— Take in stray or feral cats from your community, if you can. Stray cats live short, difficult lives, but if they are friendly and adoptable, you can bring them in and either make them part of your home, rehome them, or take them to the shelter for a chance at a better life. If you see unowned kittens, bring them inside if you possibly can. Feral kittens can be tamed and made adoptable if they are caught and handled by the time they are 8 to 10 weeks old. And don’t forget that their mom needs to be fixed; if she’s not friendly and catchable, find out how to trap her and get her spayed.
— Take care of feral pets
The most important thing to do for feral cats is to get them fixed — and this begins with feeding them and building trust. Feed feral cats at the same time of day every day, with same bowl in the same place. Make a food noise to call them that they will learn to associate with dinner time. With repetition and consistency, soon they will be waiting for you on time every day — and this is step one to trapping the kitties for spay/neuter, the most important thing you can possibly do for them.

A dog’s life — even if that means joyfully and endlessly chasing squirrels — is more meaningful than a dog owner’s life, asserts philosophy professor Mark Rowlands.
