🟡 Jaundice - yellow skin and/or mucous membranes due to the buildup of bilirubin. This can happen from the destruction of red blood cells, obstruction of the bile duct, or damage to the liver and/or gallbladder. Anything from parasites to toxins to infectious disease to cancer can cause jaundice.

Besides the physical exam, blood work and radiographs are recommended to determine which pathway is causing the jaundice. From there, veterinarians can start to formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
