Have you heard? Harris County is expecting to see freezing temperatures this week! We want to prepare you for any potential freeze by ensuring your pets stay warm and safe! Here are some cold-weather tips:

🐾 Bring Them Indoors – If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them! Keep pets inside during freezing temperatures.
🧥 Bundle Up – Short-haired pets may need a sweater or jacket for walks.
🚰 Check Water Bowls – Use heated bowls or change water frequently to prevent freezing.
⚠️ Beware of Antifreeze – Even a small amount can be deadly. Clean up spills immediately!
🚗 Tap Your Hood – Stray cats may seek warmth in your car’s engine. Give it a knock before starting.
🐶 Provide Shelter – If pets must stay outside, ensure they have a warm, insulated, and dry shelter.

Our Open House was a huge success! 🎉 We welcomed so many pet lovers, pet owners, potential volunteers, and future fosters who came eager to learn about our shelter and what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. From guided tours to inspiring stories from our volunteers, it was incredible to see our community come together to support our mission!

We just had to share this incredible rescue story with you! 🐶💛 Look through the photos for the before and after!

One of our animal control officers responded to a call by a group of concerned citizens. Once on the scene, our ACO noticed her fur was completely matted, and she was covered in fleas. After being brought to the shelter, our vet team gave her the care she desperately needed.

Nearly 3 pounds of matted fur later, we finally saw her sweet face! Despite having only one eye, this resilient pup survived the streets for who knows how long. 🥹

Every day, thousands of pets roam Harris County, each with their own story. While some face heartbreaking conditions, our dedicated team—animal control officers, vet staff, rescue/foster, call center, volunteers, and more—work tirelessly to give them a second chance. 💙
