Be safe this weekend when taking your pet on outings.
-Provide plenty of water and rest stops along your walk.
-Allow your car time to cool down before loading a pet into the back seats. It takes much longer to cool down than your front seat.

Hot Dog Danger
Did you know that dogs only have sweat glands in their feet and around their nose? Because of that dogs are much less efficient at cooling themselves like you and I. They wear a fur coat all year and cannot tolerate high temperatures like you and I can.

Panting and restlessness along with a dog who will not stop panting can be early signs of a heat stroke. Other symptoms include rapid breathing, barking or whining, excessive thirst, excessive drooling, and increased heartbeat. Act immediately and call you vet immediately or call/text us at 713-643-0633. We are closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Please be careful with your little friend this summer. We are seeing higher than normal temperatures much earlier in the summer. Keep cool water and plenty of shade available if you cannot take your dog inside. Make sure the shade completely blocks the sun from 11 AM until 7 PM as the sun moves so does your pet's shade.

If you take your pet out for walks, do it on grass or early in the morning. Concrete and blacktop (sidewalks and streets) get too hot for their sensitive feet. You can cause severe burns to their pads, causing the pads to blister or completely peel off. Imagine how badly your feet would burn without shoes on those hot surfaces. Dogs pads are tough but not immune to the hot surfaces.

Just be safe this summer and use a little sense with your pets' care.

If your home is decorated for the holiday cheer, it’s important to keep your pets in mind.

Are your furry friends safe from these common dangers?

🎄 Pine Needles can cut your pet’s mouth. Vacuum often!
➰ Tinsel can cause blockages in your pet’s intestines. Keep it out of reach!
🔮 Glass baubles can break and cut your pet. Try using sturdier alternatives!
🍪 Salt dough ornaments can be mistaken for cookies or treats, but are toxic when eaten. Keep out of reach!
💡 Fairy lights have easy-to-chew electrical cords. Tape them down!
🌲 An unsecure tree can be quite dangerous, especially if your pet knocks it over. Ensure the tree is properly weighted down.

Ready for the festivities? By keeping these things in mind, you can enjoy the holidays while keeping your pets safe.

We’re always here to help you and your pet. In case of emergency, contact us directly: 713-643-0633
