Have you ever seen your dog’s hackles stand up?
This is caused by muscle contractions along the spine that cause the hair to stand up. This is brought on for a few different reasons including fear and excitement. In this video Pumpkin thought she heard an intruder and went into guard dog mode. This could have been out of intimidation so she made herself look bigger or due to excitement.
I’d like to think it’s because she thinks she’s a tough guy and was “puffing her chest” in a way. If you look closely you can see the hair down the back of her neck rise too. 😂🫶🏼

My sweet baby Stella! When I first met Stella we had to do a slow intro. First with mom around and then short stop in visits to make sure Stella would have the best time while I stayed over.
