Look! No splint! Dixie is such a good girl just watching the squirrels at the park. She is still on restrictions while she completes her Heartworm treatment and will have at least one more xray of her leg, but she is taking applications for her forever family!

I ask Bailey the busy #GSD not to put her ball in the clean water bowl I just refilled, so for a change she did what I asked and used the #mudhole instead 😂

We would like to formally introduce Dixie the GSD we trapped at Bear Creek Park. This girl is a true southern girl who knows how to survive on her own inspite of injuries and sickness.
She has a broken leg that has started to heal and will need surgery, but she's also Heartworm positive so further assessment is needed to determine if she will need to complete her Heartworm treatment before or after we address her leg.
In spite of all her issues she is the sweetest girl!
This girl keeps things interesting! I am trying to do dishes and she stands on the bar and makes the ball roll into the sink! We are teaching her manners but she has a bit of an obsession with the ball rolling off things. 😆🐶
Bailey the busy GSD is available for adoption!
Denny is looking for love and will be at the Pet Supplies Plus Saturday 11/10 from Noon-4PM.
Come out and meet this special boy! ❤

Update on York the kitten, his skin is looking so much better!
York
Our next rescue was a kitten. On Thursday, August 30th around 10:30 PM I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and saw someone posted about a single kitten hanging out at a gas station just up the road from our house on West Little York. The owner of the gas station was aware the kitten was there and shooing the little one away every chance he got.
We arrived and set up a trap and a crate. The little guy got in the kennel rather quickly, but I was unable to close the door before he got out and he wasn’t going near the trap, we waited and waited, finally I called in reinforcements, my daughter! I told her a net would be helpful, but I wasn’t sure where we could get one at 11PM quickly, she then recalled we had several pool nets! She arrived, and the poor little guy was starting to dose off putting his nose all the way to the ground. As he was snoozing my daughter was able to get close enough to get the net over him and we quickly got him in the car to transfer to a kennel.
Now that we were able to get a closer look at him it was obvious he wasn’t in good shape. His face and legs were missing fur and he was scabby and crusty. We looked at him with our light for Ringworm and he didn’t glow, but something was going…we got him to the vet as soon as we could Friday.
York’s vet visit revealed he had scabies, coccidia, and parasites all of which we got medication for he only weighed 1 pound 12 oz. and until he gets to 2 lbs. he will have to have lime sulfur dips to combat the scabies. Once he to gets to 2 lbs. we can use the Advantage Multi to help combat the scabies. Good news on this guy is he is eating great so 2lbs shouldn’t take long!
