A bird's eye view of our 20,000 sq. feet hydroponic greens - Moonflower Farms
Houston's 1st commercial vertical hydroponic farm located inside the Houston city limits began in 2016. By 2019, we were moving into our state of the art 20,000 square foot greenhouse. We use space age technology to solve real world problems. We sustainably grow lettuces, microgreens, herbs, and edible flowers using a closed loop hydroponic system.
We work with chef's, distributors, restaurants, hotels, cafés, and the community through our farm direct box program. We provide our communities year-round access to safe, high quality produce with as little environmental impact as possible.
We believe that hydroponics and sustainable city farming are the future. Our current food systems are vastly inefficient with food waste, rampant pesticide use, transport emissions, and agricultural runoff. Closed loop grow systems prevent these problems and help to create higher quality food and local jobs. This is something worth working towards. We plan on growing in a city near you. When a Basil plant dances, would you call it a salsa or a pesto? 🤔 Either way these moves are fresh enough for any dance floor - or dinner plate 😋 Our Basil Bundles are available now on our website, waltz over to the link in our bio to check it out 💃🏻
We’re putting together your boxes as quickly as you order them... at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves 😅 There are just a few left, order yours now at moonflowerfarms.com 🤳🏼 We’ll be at the farm today and tomorrow from 10-1 for contactless pickup, catch us while you can!
Just making sure we have all our lettuces in a row 👌🏼🦆 In this quick view, you’ll see our beautiful lettuces which have still thrived despite this summer heat ☀️ but with the changing of seasons, we have to consider the change of growing conditions too! Soon we will begin planting our winter varieties of lettuce which are better suited to the reduced sunlight exposure - meaning consistent results regardless of the season!! How are you preparing for this fall? Are you already planning ahead for winter, or are you wishing this summer would last a little longer? Let us know in the comments below!

The ground is getting prepared this week to set up 32 x 45ft long hydroponic tables. This was the irrigation installation phase. Getting ready to grow! Video taken a month or so ago.

Ground Breaking for a state of the art HEB Grocery Store in the Third Ward at North MacGregor and Hwy 288 right across from the Medical Center. It is located on 5 miles north of our commercial urban farm! Everybody was there like Scott, Sheila, Annise, Sylvester to name a few.

Have you ever seen a 3D printer at work? These are so cool. We hope to get some of our farm components and tools made by these 3D printers. #innovation #technology #3dprinting
