Many of our core volunteers bring along years of experience from serving other Houston rescue groups. As of December 31, 2021 we have homed and re-homed over 8896 dogs and 500 cats! Our volunteers are compassionate, companion

animal welfare advocates dedicated to contributing their time, skills, finances, and experience. In turn, their dedication helps save the lives of the abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected, orphaned, rejected, stray, and surrendered dogs in Houston's animal control facilities. We are committed to rescuing and re-homing these dogs regardless of their breed or circumstance. We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters. K-9 Angels Rescue Board Members and Volunteers are 100% VOLUNTEER and receive NO compensation. We are not a shelter in the sense that we are not positioned to accept dogs from the public. We personally select our dogs from the greater Houston animal control facilities where healthy, adoptable dogs are destroyed every day simply because they have no home, no family, to call their own. A dog selected into our rescue program remains in our care until adopted. Only when we are able to secure the best match between dog and new caregiver(s) is the dog released from our program. A foster home provides the dog with a loving, safe environment and allows for behavioral observations & modifications, and training. Fostering creates the opportunity to see how the dog interacts with human family members and furry family members. When a foster family is not available our dogs are kenneled until transported to our Adoption Center on Saturday morning

RUSTY HAS A CUTE UPDATE TO SHARE!

Rusty boy is such a sweet dog. He loves to stretch and get his morning sun everyday. Once he is out of his crate for the day, he enjoys playing with his foster brother, laying down next to my foster mom while she cooks or when working. I know for sure he will win your heart the moment you lay eyes on him. You will be greeted every time with doggy kisses without a doubt. He is fully potty trained and crate trained. 🤎

Rusty is a male Australian Cattle Dog mix with an estimated DOB of 6/15/2024. He currently weighs 25 lbs.

LITTLE ZIVA HAS AN UPDATED BIO AND NEW PICS TO SHARE! 💜

Ziva here! I am LOVING life as a K9 angel! I am so happy and good natured, and get along well with dogs, cats, and children. I’m just want to be friends with everyone and give you a lick! I am very emotionally intuitive. On top of all that, I am fully housebroken, will sleep in a crate if you want me to, am good on a leash, and am not much of a barker. I enjoy walks, zooming around the yard, sitting next to my humans, and giving lots of kisses. If you’re looking for a small dog to brighten your day, you can’t do better than me.

MEET SKYE! PLEASE KNOW ONLY PEOPLE WITH FRENCHIE VET REFERENCES NEED APPLY!

Meet Skye! Aka as Squish, Squisher, Squishy. She came to us at the end of August, completely emaciated with chronic diarrhea at only 15 lbs. With a week at Gulf Coast, lots and lots of meds, vet visits, change of diet and added a great probiotic called Visbiome, this girl is FINALLY ready to find her forever home!

Skye is now close to 25 lbs, eating special food she might need to eat for the rest of her life that's Hydrolyzed Vegetarian Food, along with Visbiome, that's the best probiotic out there. This is all dependent on her future family's vet recommendations to keep her diagnosed with IBD at bay. Her p**p is totally normal now! She’s a special girl with a little bit of needs, but has soooo much love to give!

She’s the friendliest dog you'll ever meet, given her terrible past life of malnourishment and over breeding, but you would never know! She's people friendly of all ages and dog friendly! Cats not so much, though, as she likes to chase them. She's doing good with p*eing outside if you have her on a consistent routine. She's completely crate and p**p trained! She would definitely love to be snuggled in bed with you at night, though! Know that she, her lamb chop and favorite rabbit toy are a package deal 🥰

*Skye needs an adopter that has to have a Frenchie vet reference to go along with her needs for the future to keep it bright and healthy!*

UPDATE: FOSTERS FOUND!

FOSTERS NEEDED!

Toshi needs a new foster starting NO LATER than 12/3! He's dog friendly, house and crate trained! He's fully vetted! If he can't get a foster in time he will be stuck in a kennel at our Adoption Center by himself since we don't have a paid staff or even volunteers to take care of him 24/7.

Ranger is needing a new foster to get more exposure to new environments. He's dog friendly, house and crate trained! He even did well with a temp foster's kitty too! He's fully vetted as well!

Hi!! My name is Rey! I am a female heeler mix looking for someone to love. My foster momma does not think I will get very big, since I’m only 7 lbs right now and don’t have big paws. I have a darling personality: fun, smart, fast learner, and oh so loving. Even at my young age, I go to sleep easily in my kennel and stay quiet all night! I do love to sleep. At night, I use puppy pads really well and am quickly learning to go to the door to notify my human when I need to go out during the day. I would love to have other dogs to play with, and I love my people too. If you are looking for a sweet, fun addition to your family, let’s meet!

CHECK OUT BITTY’S ADORABLE UPDATE!

Hi, my name is Bitty aka Bitty Bits! As you can see from my photos, I’m adorable especially my black snout and puppy eyes. I may be small (about 5 lbs) but I play with the big dogs, aka my much larger foster sister. Enough about her, let me tell you a bit more about me. I am a happy go lucky, curious girl. I follow my foster mom pretty much everywhere because I never want to miss out on some fun or a potential treat! When I give my puppy eyes and sit nicely my foster mom magically gives me kisses and treats! I’m also patient and sit nicely for my meals.

I am almost fully potty trained although I still do have an occasional accident BUT I can hold it all night AND I sleep through the night comfy and cozy in my crate. My foster mom gives lots of morning kisses for this! I still do have so much to learn because I’m young but otherwise I’m perfect! If I sound perfect to you I’d love to meet you!

Bitty is a female Chihuahua/Terrier mix who was born 9/15/2024. As of 11/23, she weighed 4.8 lbs.

RANGER HAS SOME HANDSOME NEW PICS AND AN UPDATED BIO! 💙

Hi there! My name is Ranger, and I’ve got a question for you: Did we just become best friends? I think so! I’ve never met a stranger, so don’t be surprised if I greet you with plenty of kisses when we’re introduced. I have the cutest one ear up, one ear down look, and my wrinkles make me super squishable!

My personality is the perfect mix of playful and chill. I love food, toys, and snuggles—especially snuggles! I’m great at entertaining myself (my foster mom laughs when I toss my toys up and pounce on them), but I also have a blast playing with other dogs.

And to top it off, I definitely pass the good boy vibe check—I’m potty and crate trained, and I know how to walk on my leash. My foster mom is a vet tech and I get to hang out at work with her, so I’ve had plenty of socialization, and I’m dog and cat friendly!

Ranger is a male Shar-Pei/Shepherd mix that we estimate to be born around 5/23/2024. He weighs 26 lbs as of November 2024.

MEET SNOWBALL!

Meet Snowball, a sweet and snuggly 7-pound Maltipoo who is as soft and fluffy as her name suggests! This little girl was found in rough shape under a bridge, but after a good grooming and pampering, she's quickly adjusting to the comforts of indoor life and is ready to find her forever home. Snowball may be shy at first—her tail tucked between her legs is just her way of saying, "I'm a little nervous!" But once she feels safe, she blossoms into an affectionate cuddle bug, loving to snuggle close and bury her head in your chest. She even shows a playful side by bounding around like a bunny.

Snowball is a quiet, gentle soul who enjoys being near her people, and she's especially fond of being held and pampered. She’s great with other dogs and, with a little patience, warms up to new friends, even those with a bit more size. While she’s still working on her potty training, she’s making great progress and is eager to please. She’s good with kids too, once they take the time to earn her trust (until then, she will find a safe place to hide). She will let you know you’ve earned her badge of trust by approaching you and giving you small baby kisses.

SUNNY HAS AN UPDATED BIO AND CUTE NEW PICS!

When Sunny isn’t learning the intricacies of fetch, she is happily chewing on her little dinosaur or reindeer toys. She’s an awesome puppy who sits before getting her meals - we’re working on making those sits a little longer, but she’s just so exuberant! She comes when called (most of the time) and sleeps through the night! A spunky girl, she loves playing with her foster dog siblings and respectfully watching her foster cat sibling. She’s a smart cookie who is very food motivated and easily redirected when being mischievous. She’s also crate-trained and well on her way to being fully house-trained. Adorably, she will try to join in on her husky-mix foster siblings’ howling sessions with little baby howls. This cuddly puppy would love to bring a little sunshine to her forever home!

MEET TOFU!

I’m smaller than most of my siblings, but my mommy thinks I am super sweet and warm. I love love belly rubs. Once I’m on my side, I’ll show off my belly right away to get a good rub. Every time my foster parents take me outside onto the grass, I always do my business, which makes me well on my way to being potty trained. I love following my foster parents everywhere. After they take me outside, I always follow them back into the house. I’m a good girl! I love playing with different toys, but most of all, I love getting kisses. I also sleep through the night to get recharged for the next day. I have a lot love and I can’t wait to meet my new family!

I might look tiny, but I have a big personality. I love to hop around the backyard where I currently live. My foster mom thinks I’m super sweet. I love kisses from her. I am almost fully potty trained at night. I have always been a good girl and sleeping well in my kennel at night. I love to play with different toys. I am playful and warm, and can be a little mischievous as well.
