is an all-breed, non-profit 501(c)(3), canine rescue organization established in February 2012. Many of our core volunteers bring along years of experience from serving other Houston rescue groups. As of December 31, 2021 we have homed and re-homed over 8896 dogs and 500 cats! Our volunteers are compassionate, companion animal welfare advocates dedicated to contributing their time, skills, finance

s, and experience. In turn, their dedication helps save the lives of the abandoned, abused, homeless, neglected, orphaned, rejected, stray, and surrendered dogs in Houston's animal control facilities. We are committed to rescuing and re-homing these dogs regardless of their breed or circumstance. We are motivated by the dire need to educate the public about the effects of irresponsible breeding practices, while helping the community by alleviating overcrowding in area shelters. K-9 Angels Rescue Board Members and Volunteers are 100% VOLUNTEER and receive NO compensation. We are not a shelter in the sense that we are not positioned to accept dogs from the public. We personally select our dogs from the greater Houston animal control facilities where healthy, adoptable dogs are destroyed every day simply because they have no home, no family, to call their own. A dog selected into our rescue program remains in our care until adopted. Only when we are able to secure the best match between dog and new caregiver(s) is the dog released from our program. A foster home provides the dog with a loving, safe environment and allows for behavioral observations & modifications, and training. Fostering creates the opportunity to see how the dog interacts with human family members and furry family members. When a foster family is not available our dogs are kenneled until transported to our Adoption Center on Saturday morning

Meet Ruthie – Your Snorting, Snoring, Snuggle Buddy!

Ruthie is a 2-year-old pug with a whole lot of personality packed into her adorable, wrinkly little body! Like any true pug, she’s a champion napper, an expert at begging for snacks, and a professional shadow—she’ll follow you everywhere!

This sweet girl loves to be right next to her foster mom, whether it’s outside on the picnic table or playfully zooming around the house. She’s also got the signature pug soundtrack—adorable snorts when she’s excited and the most soothing (and sometimes hilarious) snores when she’s napping.

The best part? Ruthie is house-trained with no accidents in the house and is also crate-trained. She’s a smart little lady who knows how to settle in when needed! Her favorite hobbies include snack time (okay, every time is snack time), getting belly rubs, and making you laugh with her goofy antics.

Ruthie is looking for a forever home where she can be the center of attention, snuggle to her heart’s content, and, of course, get plenty of treats!

MEET WINNIE! 💗

Hi, my name is Winnie—but my foster mom keeps calling me her little Angel, and honestly, I think it fits.

I’m a big, gentle pup with a super sweet heart. My favorite things? Cuddling up for belly rubs, trotting around with a ball in my mouth, and following my people everywhere—whether it’s the backyard, the kitchen, or just room to room. Oh, and I love being called a good girl. I also have a foster brother, an older dog, and I love playing with him! I’d probably do great in a home with another dog, especially if they like to romp around with me.

So far, I haven’t had a single accident in my foster home. I always go potty outside when my foster parents take me, and I can sleep in my crate for a full 8 hours overnight without any issues. When I need to go potty, I stand by the door, but be careful, I’m a little shy and don’t bark loudly—so you’ll have to keep an eye on me to know when it’s time!

I’m great with kids (my human family has kids ages 7, 5 and 3), gentle with my puppy nibbles, and I hardly ever bark or cry. I even sleep all night in my crate without a peep! But to be fair...if this were a job interview and they asked about my biggest weakness? Well… I do have a minor “bad habit” of sneaking off with the kids’ plastic toys and stuffed lovies for a good chew (how could I resist?!). But I’m easily redirected back to my own bones and puppy toys. Other than that, I’m just an easygoing, lovable pup looking for my forever home.

Hi, my name is Mildred! I love everyone and everything! I know no stranger. I am fun loving and playful and love playing with my brother Strait. I do love my naps in my foster families laps too. I am still working on potty training and crate training but I am learning very quickly!

MEET STRAIT!

Hi, my name is Strait! My foster mom says that I am the sweetest little boy once I warm up to you. I am very shy at first but once I know you all I want to do is curl up in your lap and fall asleep. I love other dogs, especially my sister Mildred, and people too once I know them.

Strait is almost fully crate and potty trained, but he is still working on it.

CHECK OUT SNACK'S UPDATED BIO!

Meet Snacks! She came to use with severe dog bite wounds that are healed now, but she is now afraid of dogs bigger than her. She is going thru Heartworm Treatment but taking it like a champ. She's already more on the calm side so it won't be too hard though.

She's AMAZING with kids and the little human foster brother in the home is her BFF. In her furever home, she would love to have a kiddo to call her own to grow up with. She is all about her people and will make the most loyal friend to everyone in the family.

Since she's scared of larger dogs, a home without other dogs or one with smaller dogs her size that will ignore her is best. She's not your dog if you're looking for another dog to keep your other dog company.

Snacks is completely crate trained and if taken out regularly, does well with house training. She will fuss for a little bit when you leave her, but settles down after a few mins. Car rides and going places is her favorite! She's your true passenger princess and just wants to be wherever you are.

Snacks is a Female Chihuahua/Spaniel Mix that we estimate to be born around 7/15/23 and weighs 13.8 lbs.

BADGER HAS AN UPDATED BIO & THE CUTEST NEW PICS!

Badger has been such a good girl in her foster home! Her brindle coat is very unique and she has those puppy eyes that could melt you.

Potty training is going well. She has the occasional accident in the house, but never in her crate. She will let you know when she needs to go outside.

She likes romping around in the backyard with her foster brother. They play tug of war, wrestle and get the zoomies together which is very fun to watch. She also enjoys having something to chew on.

Badger has taken to her crate very nicely and will go in there to take her play breaks, eat her food and nap. She will make the perfect companion for you and your family!

MEET LOUISE & LUMP!

Louise is a standard black and tan Dachshund. She was rescued from the streets of Pasadena with her puppy, Lump. She is most likely house trained and has had no accidents while living with us. Her favorite thing to do is to go outside and sit in the sun and chase and watch the squirrels in our backyard. She is also very loving and loves to sleep with me in bed at night under the covers. She has a playful spirit and is also very calm. She also loves to play with her puppy. I would say she needs someone to love her so much because she is a needy little girl and just wants to be loved but at other times, all she wants to do is play with her puppy.

Ideally, Louise and Lump would like to be adopted together since Lump was abandoned with his mom at a very young age and the depend on each other. They also are much easier together.

Louise is a female Dachshund with an estimated date of birth of 2/1/2022. She weighs 15 lbs.

Lump is a Dachshund mix puppy. When I rescued Lump, he had no idea what a toy was and weeks later they are his favorite things. He already knows how to sit and is very smart. He loves following me around and seeing what I am up to. He always wiggles his way everywhere he goes. One of his favorite things to do is sit for treats and play with is momma. He also loves to sleep with me in the bed on his back with his feet in the air. He has no accidents in the night while sleeping with me. My favorite thing he does in the morning is crawl behind my neck and rest his head on my cheek to see if Im awake and if I am not, he goes right back to cuddle with his momma. He also does the cutest little big yawn in the morning. His sweet little face will make your day.

Lump will definitely need a companion to play with. Ideally, Louise and Lump would like to be adopted together since Lump was abandoned with his mom at a very young age and the depend on each other. They also are much easier together. Lump always follows his mom everywhere and is skittish most of the time and his momma helps bring out his sweet personality.

MEET BOO BOO!

Boo Boo is the ultimate cuddler and a total sweetheart. She’s an easygoing, affectionate pup who loves being close to her human(s)....very close. Whether it’s snuggling up on the couch or following you around the house, she’s always ready to share the love. Especially if that love involves belly rubs. And when it’s time to turn on the jets, she is always ready for a game of fetch.

Boo Boo is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows a few commands like “crate” and “sit”. She plays well with children, adults, and other dogs of all size and adapts well when other dogs set boundaries.

People can’t seem to get enough of her cute little tongue and the many snorting sounds she makes. Occasionally she will bark to let you know someone is at the door but other than that she is pretty chill.

One more thing that Boo Boo’s future family should know is that this sweet girl will be undergoing surgery on her ear canal soon, which will leave her deaf in one ear.

Favorite Activities:

⭐️Playing fetch (she’ll never the ball right back!)
⭐️Belly rubs and head scratches
⭐️Napping in the sun (and occasionally snoring)
⭐️Long baths (she falls asleep in there too)

I may only weigh 4 lbs, but my heart is huge! I’m as sweet as pie, and my favorite place in the world is right by your side. I love gentle cuddles, soft blankets, and belly rubs. I promise to fill your days with love, tail wags, and the cutest puppy eyes you’ve ever seen!

I am working on potty training and doing a great job going outside. I am also working on crate training skills, but I am still very young and cry a little bit when left alone. I get along great with my furry foster brother and older kiddos.

Hi - I’m Diamond and just like my name, I’m super precious! I’m very lovable and easy - love playing with toys and other dogs, even if I am a little a shy at first- I’m doing very well with my 7 yr old foster brofur, he’s taught me how to play Tug of war, which I love, and I go for a nap when everyone in the house is busy or away. I sleep throughout the night with no issues on my own bed and whilst I’m okay in my crate when my foster family is away, I do well roaming around the house and snoozing on the sofa. Oh and I’m potty trained!

My foster dad has been training me tricks and I’ve already mastered Sit, Stay, Down and leaning more. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving pup, I’m your gal!

FIONA HAS AN UPDATED BIO AND CUTE NEW PICS TO SHARE! 💜

Hey there, everybody, it’s me, Fiona! It’s been a few weeks since K-9 Angels rescued me, and I’ve been having quite a time of it! My brother Enzo went to a new foster last weekend, so I’ve had to learn to fly solo. I really missed him at first, but I’ve gotten really comfortable being on my own in my crate. I sleep there most of the night, with just a couple of potty breaks (no accidents in my crate either!). I love to take naps in my crate if my family members need to pop out for an errand or two.

My potty training during the day has really gone to the next level, and now I’m asking to go outside and having only occasional accidents. My foster family says in no time I’ll be a big girl! I assume they mean that figuratively because there is really no question that I am getting bigger each day, thanks to my healthy appetite. Also, I started learning these cool tricks called “sit” and “down” – when I do them right, I get something called a “treat” which is pretty amazing (did I mention that I like to eat?).

Overall, I am adjusting to life on my own, but I sure wouldn’t mind a home that has another playful dog to show me some cool stuff. I love to play hard and nap hard, and I think I am going to really love it when I can start taking walks very soon. I am a cuddle monster, but I love taking naps on the cool floor or in a nice dog bed.

I am really looking forward to meeting my fur-ever family so come and meet me very soon!
