During Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week, we want to give a huge shoutout to our drivers!

Houston faces severe shelter overcrowding, with more pets in need than local adoptions can meet. Our transport program bridges that gap by driving animals to northern states where adoptable pets are in higher demand.

Thanks to our dedicated drivers, thousands of animals have made the trip from uncertainty to a forever home. Each mile they drive opens space in Houston shelters and saves lives across the map. We are so grateful for all of their hard work! 🚐❤🐾

Meet Brownie 💕, a sweet girl who’s gone from shelter stress to foster bliss! When she first arrived, Brownie was quiet, sad, and not feeling her best. It’s clear she had a rough start, likely used for breeding multiple litters over just a few years. All she needed was a loving home to help her heal and thrive.

Her foster says it best: “As is typical for Dobermans, Brownie bonded with me quickly and stays very close to me, following me from room to room. She hasn’t made a peep since arriving in my home, but her tail wags all the time so I know she must be happy. She climbs into my lap and we share coffee together in the morning. She sleeps, eats and drinks well and does her business outside. Lucky is the Colorado family who gets Brownie as their pet. She is so deserving.” 🐾

Brownie's story is a beautiful reminder of why foster homes and second chances are so important! ❤

Our last free community vetting event was a huge success! We served 114 families and cared for 127 dogs and 75 cats, providing vaccines, microchips, and flea & tick prevention at no cost.

Events like this are core to our mission: helping owned pets stay healthy, loved, and out of shelters. By removing barriers to care, we help families keep their pets where they belong, safe at home! 💕

We are so grateful to everyone who made this possible. Huge shoutout to all of our amazing volunteers who gave their time to make this event run so smoothly! Stay tuned for our next free vetting clinic this spring! 🐶🐱

Last week, Arlo began the next chapter of his life in Colorado! 🌄

On August 17, deputies discovered Arlo and his family abandoned on the side of the road in 98°F heat. His puppies were sick, hungry, and covered in parasites, and their mother tragically didn’t survive. Despite everything he had endured, Arlo stayed gentle and patient, caring for his puppies and showing love to everyone around him.

Now, Arlo has a second chance. His journey is a reminder of the resilience of animals and the difference rescue efforts can make.

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month! 🐾 Senior pets are often overlooked in favor of younger animals, but they can make some of the most loving, loyal, and low-maintenance companions. Many are already house-trained, calmer, and full of personality, which can make adding them to your home easier than you think.

Take Scooter, for example (pictured in post). She was adopted from BARC as a kitten and returned 8 years later. Her story is a reminder that senior pets deserve homes too. While they may be older, they have plenty of love to give, and adopting a senior pet can be a deeply rewarding experience. Choosing a senior means giving an animal comfort, stability, and care in their golden years. In return, you gain a loyal companion who often appreciates every moment of their new home. ❤️
