Each month Axelrad donates profits of a special drink to a local organization or cause in the community. This month, we were chosen!❤

Housed in the premises of a former grocery store built by the Axelrad family in the early 1920s. Like their predecessors, they seek to carry on the tradition of being an open and welcoming place for all.

🐾LAUNDRY HELP NEEDED!🐾

While we were able to get a new washer covered (woohoo!!) we are still working out some electrical hiccups before we can get it installed. Therefore, we are still down a washer for the time being!

Would anyone be willing to give us a helping hand and pick up some laundry to take home or take to a laundromat? We would truly appreciate it!!❤️

Pick up is in front of our clinic at 2317 West 34th Street Houston, TX 77018. You’ll see a big stack of bags on the left hand side of the door, and you can return items in a clean trash bag to the right side of the door on the red benches.

Please note, these items have been used for animal care and cleaning so they are pretty dirty. We apologize in advance and appreciate your willingness to help us keep saving lives!

We are in desperate need of TOWELS, BLANKETS, and SHEETS for the animals in our care!

To put things in perspective - last month we saved 447 dogs and cats from BARC alone… That’s a lot of animals that need a lot of supplies!

Today, we are replacing water damaged ceiling tiles in our Dog General Population area and finishing up our lobby!!

How lucky are we to have incredible volunteers like Lisa and Lee Ann? These amazing ladies went above and beyond by purchasing and setting up new pallets to replace the worn-out wooden ones that we set crates on for transport morning.

We have our biggest fundraiser of the year, Chefs for Paws, coming up in February and are searching for event sponsors at the $750 level! We never want to spend general donated funds for things for events, so we are hoping local businesses would be willing to help!

If you know of a business who could help make our event a success, we would be happy to highlight them a variety of ways: on-site event signage, a round of social media shoutouts, including them in the post-event wrap-up email, verbal recognition during the event, and an opportunity to put a promotional item in take home goodie bags! Thanks to the generosity of 118 RPM heroes, we’ve officially reached our fundraising goal needed to purchase a brand new, much-needed commercial washer! Britney and Shamus were two dogs whose paths had never crossed before being rescued from BARC. They each had their own stories of survival, but their journey to a better life truly began when they stepped off the transport van in Colorado. That's where the magic happened—they met for the first time and instantly became the best of friends. It was as if they had been waiting their whole lives to find each other.

Soon after their arrival, a wonderful adopter came across Britney and Shamus, who were being fostered together. This adopter had always dreamed of adopting a bonded pair, and it seemed like fate that these two inseparable pals came into her life. Meeting them in person was all it took—she fell head over heels in love with their sweet bond and personalities. Britney and Shamus had become a package deal, and they were more than ready for their happily ever after.

Now, this dynamic duo is living their best life in Colorado with their amazing mom and dad, sharing every moment side by side. Their story is a beautiful reminder of why we transport—to give animals a chance at happiness they might not otherwise have.

A huge thank you to our rescue partner -My Second Home Rescue, fosters, and supporters who believed in Britney and Shamus when no one else would. It's because of you that they found each other and the perfect forever home!❤

ORIGINAL POST- As many of you know, we've been without a functioning washer for several weeks now. Our household-sized machine has officially called it quits, and we are in urgent need of an industrial-sized washer to keep up with the enormous amount of laundry we handle each day for our rescued animals.

Heavy-duty washers are a significant expense, and we need your help to raise the funds to purchase one. After extensive research and getting quotes from various companies, we’ve found the perfect washer to meet our needs.

At Rescued Pets Movement, we believe every animal deserves a clean, comfortable place to rest while they wait for their foster and transport date! With hundreds of animals coming through our doors, laundry is a constant task—blankets, towels, toys, bedding, and more all need to be washed daily.

For years, we’ve been using standard household washers, but they simply aren’t built to handle the amount of laundry we do. After many tireless cycles and costly repairs, one of the two has finally conked out.😓 Now, we urgently need to upgrade to a commercial-grade washer that can keep up with our demanding rescue operations. We are hoping that with a commercial washer and a standard household one, we will be able to keep up with demand!

To purchase this new washer, we need to raise $10,105. It’s a big expense, but this washer will be a game changer for us, helping us efficiently clean and care for the animals we rescue every single day. This price also covers the washer itself, the washer base, an extensive warranty, and shipping.

At RPM, we go through a TON of towels because they get dirty and worn out quickly. We typically can only use them a few times before they become unusable!

RPM on KPRC

Today, we had the privilege of sitting down with Zachery Lashway on KPRC2 / Click2Houston to share what these past months have been like for us. Two storms—the Derecho and Hurricane Beryl—hit our facility hard, but no amount of damage could stop us from doing what we do best: saving lives. Benito, a sweet dog we rescued from the euthanasia list, was with us during the segment, reminding us why we keep pushing forward. Even in the toughest times, we’ve never stopped fighting for these animals. This morning at 6am, a puppy we’ve since named Oakley was dumped outside our facility, despite multiple clear signs that dumping pets is illegal. While we understand the challenges people face when trying to surrender animals, this is not the solution. Dumping pets not only puts them at risk but also strains organizations like ours that simply don’t have the resources to take in unexpected animals. We are not animal control and we are not a shelter. We need your help to care for Oakley and others like her. As a nonprofit, we rely on the support of our community to provide lifesaving care, and every unexpected intake puts additional pressure on our already stretched resources. With your donations, we can ensure Oakley receives the medical care, food, and love she needs to recover and find her forever home.
