Thank you Fort Bend Junior Service League for the generous donation to sponsor our horse, Marilyn.

SIRE maintains a herd of 15 horses at our Fort Bend location and each horse has specific needs. You can help SIRE by sponsoring a horse for a year. Your annual donation provides the feed, farrier and vet care of a specific member of our herd to keep them in working condition.

To get more information on how you can sponsor a SIRE horse, please email Angela at [email protected].

Thank you very much to the seventeen amazing students from Youth In Philanthropy across Fort Bend County! YIP’s Team 7 helped our staff and volunteers improve the Fort Bend location through a few different projects. They completed our PVC waterlines along our pastures, they cleared out our administrative building to make more room for more supplies for classes, and relayed mats in the stalls for our horses. They helped us keep our horses healthy, happy, and prepared for classes! Thank you YIP and Team 7!

To kick off the new year we are introducing a new segment on our socials! You have had the pleasure of getting to know the members of our herd, now it’s time for our staff to be in the spotlight.

It only makes sense to start with SIRE’s head honcho: Joe Wappelhorst. He has been the executive director for 8 going on 9 years. His specialty is focusing on the business side of the EAS industry. This has allowed him to propel SIRE to where it is today.

Joe’s favorite part of the job is being able to meet the clients and their families. They are an inspiration and the reason we do what we do.

What you may not know about Joe is that he is an avid gamer. From board games to cards to the PC, he loves them all.

Check back every other month to learn more about the SIRE staff.

Did you know that over on Instagram we shoutout our volunteer of the month? We celebrated 12 more amazing volunteers this year! It takes volunteer power to have our lessons run smoothly and successfully. We certainly could not do it without these volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a SIRE volunteer, reach out to Julia ([email protected]) for Spring or Brooke ([email protected]) for Fort Bend.

After the holiday show a group from Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) came out for a workday. They helped with putting the office back together, trimmed low hanging branches and cleaned out two pastures. Thankfully the rain held off until the very end.

Thank you HFMA! We look forward to having your group out again next year!

Spirits were high as the 2024 SIRE Holiday Show commenced. Opening ceremonies started off with a dressage freestyle exhibition from one of the Spring independent riders. Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance along with one of their elves and holiday miniature horse.

All the riders had an absolute blast dressing in their festive attire. Events included a quick equitation class to demonstrate riding skills followed by a themed relay race where each rider assisted Santa by delivering milk, cookies, reindeer food and letters for Santa. There was a smile on every face and the horses had a pep in their step as each duo went.

Thank you to all the riders, family members and volunteers who came out to celebrate the show with us. Thank you to the French Corner food truck for coming out to serve authentic French crepes alongside other dishes. Last but not least, thank you to the amazing staff who organized and ran the show. It takes a village to have a show run smoothly and our little Christmas village pulled it off with ease!

We hope everyone has a happy holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone in the new year!
