Meet Birdie, the sweetest pup that sees the world with her heart! 💕

This sweet 1-year-old came to us from the euthanasia list at a local shelter, where she was facing her toughest challenge yet. Diagnosed with severe glaucoma, Birdie’s condition led to the removal of her eyes to give her a pain-free, happy life.

But don’t let her lack of sight fool you—Birdie sees the world with her heart. She’s the sweetest dog ever, filled with love and a gentle spirit that brightens every room she enters. Despite everything she’s been through, Birdie just wants to share her unconditional love with a family who will adore her as much as she’ll adore them.

Laritza, one of our Pets for Life clients, was heartbroken when her cat, Canela, experienced complications with her pregnancy. She was given an impossible choice by another clinic: pay thousands for treatment or opt for euthanasia. Feeling lost, Laritza reached out to our Pets for Life program for help. We reassured her that she wasn’t alone, and together with our team, we found a solution.

Thanks to the amazing support from the The Humane Society of the United States and our dedicated veterinarians, Canela received the care she needed. One of our doctors performed a life-saving surgery, giving Canela a second chance. While the kittens couldn’t be saved, Canela’s life was spared, all thanks to the quick actions of our team.

In just 2.5 hours, our program demonstrated the true spirit of Pets for Life: providing compassionate care to underserved families and their pets. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our veterinary team, technicians, and everyone who supported Laritza and Canela. Your efforts truly make a difference in lives. 💕

P.S. Canela is doing great and even using her litter box again! She’s an incredible cat!

Thank You for Helping Our Community Pets to Stay Warm & Cozy! 🌧️❄️

This week, as temperatures dropped and rain poured, our team stepped up to distribute pet food at our pet pantry in partnership with Constable Zack Harkness, Pct. 6 Constable, Liberty County, TX to fill precious bellies! ❤️

Together, we made a big impact: Distributing pet food to nearly 300 pets and their families. We are incredibly grateful to Greater Good Charities for their generous donation of food to support the Tornado Disaster Relief efforts. Together, we’re making a difference one paw at a time!

Today, we had the honor of meeting Ollie, a courageous 4-year-old pup living with epilepsy. His devoted fur mom makes sure he's never left alone. Ollie’s resilience and his mom’s love touched our hearts, reminding us of the extraordinary bond between pets and their families.

📊 According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
“Vet care costs have increased by nearly 11% from July 2022 to July 2023.”

The Liberty County Pct. 6 Constable’s Office honored the Houston Humane Society with a “Community Impact Award” for our partnership and contributions. Over the past year, we’ve teamed up 7 times, serving thousands of pets and their families!

We’re proud to support families navigating these challenges, like Ollie’s mom, who is balancing medical bills while making sure her pup is loved and cared for.

First Foster Pick-Up of 2025!

What a PURRR-fect way to kick off the new year! The first foster of 2025 has officially been placed, and we couldn’t be more excited to see this program continue to grow and save lives.

Here’s a look at what YOU helped us achieve in 2024:
🐶 2,237 animals placed in foster care
🐾 481 animals adopted from foster care
❤️ 455 lives saved through our Finder to Foster Program

These numbers highlight the incredible impact of fostering and the power of our community stepping up for animals in need.

Did you know that neutering male cats can help reduce the number of cats roaming in your neighborhood?

Fix Felix is just around the corner! The Houston Humane Society is offering free neutering for male cats in the Houston area to help prevent overpopulation and improve the lives of our feline friends.

Here's what you need to know:
🔹 $10 deposit (applied to rabies vaccine)
🔹 Limit of 5 cats per person
🔹 Feral and domesticated cats qualify
🔹 All cats must be in a plastic crate for safety

: Doggy Day Out

Scooby, formerly known as Cowgirl, was waiting patiently for her forever home at the Houston Humane Society when her life took a wonderful turn. Her new owner first met her during a Doggy Day Out—a special program where people take shelter dogs out for a day of fun activities away from the shelter. After returning her to the shelter, Scooby’s owner couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Not long after, during our Empty the Shelters adoption event, Scooby’s owner came back and made it official—Scooby found her forever family! Now, she’s living her best life with a loving home and a furry sibling to play with. ✨

Scooby even visits some of our events, showing how much love and joy adoption brings.❤️

Meet the beautiful Jodi and her 8 sweet pups, who were rescued from
Harris County Pets and are now safe in our care.

This sweet mama is everything you could hope for in a mother, loving, protective, and gentle. She’s been nothing short of amazing, caring for her little ones with so much devotion. 💕

These precious little ones needed a place to call home, and we're so grateful to offer them a loving, caring environment as they begin their journey to forever families. 🏠
