I've come to realize that nearly all of my collection needs some updated photos. Some don't even have more than one photo at all, so I attempted to change that...and then we nearly had a tornado, but definitely had hail, an insane downpour, and a massive power outage. So, I think what the universe is trying to tell me is to stop being productive and just play more Skyrim on the weekends. 🤷‍♀️

In all seriousness, I didn't even get all the snakes photographed that I'd selected because the sky opened up and I was hit with a wall of water followed by hail. It was a great time. 😂
The storm clouds created some incredible and moody lighting, and these two redstripe boys just absolutely GLOW!
I'll get them all posted over the next couple of days, but for now, just look at these stunners!

Something funky is going on though, because while sometimes blue-eyed leucistic combos can have pattern depending on the genes involved, it doesn't normally look like this. Her eyes are also two very different shades of blue, with one being dark and the other light. The pattern all over her body is subtle, but easily seen in person. On camera it is incredibly difficult to capture except near and on her head. Some of the photos have been artificially made to have higher contrast to better show these differences, but it still didn't help much. That's where the UV light comes in!

I am back to slacking on my socials it seems, but I'm still here and still working!
Now it's Obsidian's turn to put in the work and he's doing so with flying colors!

Whomever said ball pythons are boring was lying to you. Nearly every single snake came out swinging at feeding time today, and two of them nailed me pretty hard. Nax, the one pictured here, wasn't even one of the culprits, but she was so excited for food she didn't want to wait and gave me the stare down. 😂
In all seriousness, these bites are not the norm and these big girls didn't want me, they wanted the rats they could smell, and in their excitement they made mistakes. They are really quite friendly most of the time. I am also not very cautious at feeding time, so that's on me. These bites look so so so much worse than they actually are. I've gotten worse just walking through the woods in summer and coming across a thorn bush.

This little girl is one of the lucky few able to go to her new home despite the cold weather. I was so glad to hear everything went well and I know she'll be well cared for.
There's at least a chance that next week might turn out to be safe for shipping, but it's far too early to say for sure. Those of you waiting on snakes, don't worry, I'll be reaching out personally so we can confirm closer to the weekend. Again, I thank everyone for their continued patience as we wait out this bitter cold!

This one is doing his best to be confusing. Shows all the signs of being vanilla, including the headstamp, but he's dark compared to his siblings and my phone is artificially brightening him in this light. Strong suspicion he's het paint, but lacking the het clown of his clutch mates.

We had a great time at the today. We met a lot of great people, sent some animals off to new homes and brought some home ourselves.

Buran is doing his best scope, searching far and wide for his new home. This little goober is one of the many faces you'll see this weekend at the Altoona Reptile Expo. Come check us out and you just might fall in love!
The show is Saturday, February 8th from 9am to 3pm. Tickets are $5 for 12yrs old and up, $4 for children 4-11yrs as well as seniors and military members. Children under 4yrs have free admission.

What an incredible surprise! This little girl is a special needs snake who does not drink on her own, and has needed assistance shedding since she hatched. Well, today she graced me with a BEAUTIFUL and complete shed. I am so dang happy for her progress, and maybe one day the drinking issue will resolve itself as well. 🩵

So we've had some crazy wind around here lately, and some of you know that my "photo studio" for the snakes is outdoors because the best light is natural light. (It's heated in winter, don't worry.)
Well, the wind decided it hates this idea, so it has been doing its best to destroy the studio. It has partially succeeded already and tomorrow isn't looking good. We'll be doing our best to secure and protect it in the meantime, but if you're wondering why I haven't posted any new photos recently...wonder no more!
I had to purchase some new props after some of them were destroyed, but I should be able to get some things figured out here soon.
For those wondering why I go through the hassle of taking outdoor photos, this is why.
One on the left was taken in the snake room, and the one on the right was taken outside. I don't have an expensive camera. I just use my phone on pro mode, but no amount of adjustment can make up for the harsh lighting. That might be lack of skill on my part, admittedly, but either way I've found I get the best (and most accurate) representation of the animals in outdoor lighting and the results speak for themselves. 😊
