Wooohooo look at this crew! Laura won her class yesterday, Kinsey was Reserve High Point yesterday and qualified for Zones, and Levi qualified for zones.

Congratulations to the whole UWRF team for a great season! Mark your calendars for the IHSA Zone 7 Championship Finals on March 30th at Ledges!!

And thank you to Debra Ninnemann for being the best type of horse mom and making them take pictures for me!

Rounded out the show season with Ashlyn & Milk in their first 2’3” jumper classes. Milk needs everyone to know she’s ready for the meters next spring!

We missed our friends who are off at school but it was great to have Ava with us for photo & grooming support.

Training is not always a glamorous side gig, but it is most definitely always rewarding.

Today was the last day of Jimmy’s beach vacation. Lascari - otherwise known as Cari, Jimmy, Jimbo, and JimJim - came to the farm for the summer for a reset. This sweet soul has experienced a lot and had plenty of change in his short life, leaving him tense and reactive.

We (Fini, Jim, and I) worked together over the past few months to build his confidence and help him settle into his body and brain. All of his training was done using positive reinforcement, consent based training.

We moved slowly, carefully, but steadily towards our goal of a self-assured, comfortable horse. And it worked! He went home a completely different horse than he arrived. I am confident that wherever his life takes him next, we built a wonderful foundation that will allow him to be successful at whatever he does.

Big thank you to Julie at Skye Farm for trusting me with your sweet boy! It was a blessing to bring him out of his shell. And of course, thank you to Herda Horseshoeing CJF for continuing to embrace softness and patience. Connecting with other professionals in the industry who have the same mindset is so valuable. Last but not least, thank you to my momma and the girls who take care of the ponies everyday - couldn’t do it without you!

Big IHSA weekend for the crew! I visited Andi & the Wisconsin Equestrian for their home show and Levi, Kinsey, and Laura showed at NDSU for UWRF IHSA Hunt Seat Show Team. Fingers crossed that we will all be together for zones in the spring!

Kinsey and Indy dipped their toes into eventing at the 2023 Capital Mini-Event today! Such a fun day - friendly and well run mini event with an appropriately friendly yet challenging cross country course. Kinsey kept a cool head and helped Indy have a confidence building experience. I’ll miss this pair when they head back to college!

We had a fun and educational morning full of firsts at the MKE URBAN CHARITY HORSE SHOW! First show in the 2’ for Ashlyn and Milk with huge improvements between her first and last ride of the day, first jumping show for Flicka and Levi and they won their eq class this morning.

We had such a fun morning at the farm! Everyone enjoyed confidence building jump rounds, beautiful weather, and getting to see our long distance friends! Thanks Lizzie and Cheyenne for making the trip up to visit!
