Please read this I wrote it about yesterday!!:
Rescue Run 2025: Seven Souls, One Unshakable Mission
Yesterday was heavy. There’s no other word that quite fits.
Seven of us packed into trucks, trailers behind us, hearts full of hope as we set off on a three-hour journey to a kill auction. We called it Rescue Run 2025, a chance to give life back to the forgotten. But nothing could have prepared us for what we were about to see.
The moment we arrived, the air hit different, thick with fear, chaos, and something unspoken that clung to your skin. Horses were everywhere, but there was no grace to it, no peace. Just confusion. Panic. No rules. No order. We couldn’t even walk freely without wondering if we might be trampled by the very animals we came to save.
Some horses were jammed into tiny pens, 10 or more shoved together. Eyes wide, bodies trembling, heads held low. We saw one poor soul being whipped, forced onto a trailer, terrified and fighting back with everything it had left. We stood there frozen, gutted. Shocked. Saddened. Angry.
Each horse only gets about 15 seconds in the ring, 15 seconds to prove they’re worth more than a meat price. Just 15 seconds to beg for a chance.
We sat behind a couple buying for slaughter. That part never gets easier. You sit there, biting your lip, reminding yourself that you can’t save them all. That you have to focus on the ones you can.
And somehow, through grit, tears, and quiet prayers, we did.
We brought home seven.
Joey.
Harry.
Reba.
Honey.
Roger.
Daisy.
Violet.
Seven new names. Seven new hearts that beat because someone believed they were worth more. They made it back to the barn safely, tired, unsure, but safe.
We didn’t raise quite enough money this time. We scraped and stretched and made it happen anyway. Because when life is on the line, you find a way.
These rescues are more than just horses, they’re survivors. And Rescue Run 2025 was more than a mission, it was a promise: We will keep showing up, even when it's hard. Especially when it’s hard.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, donated, cheered us on, or just took a moment to care. These seven lives are because of you.
And we’re just getting started.
