THE BEST OF THE BEST WEEKEND! ❤️

We have so many amazing animals that pass in and out the doors of our shelter that sometimes we feel that some of our very best animals are getting overlooked. So we decided to do a FLASHBACK WEEKEND!

Although we do our best to not flood your Facebook feeds we have decided that this weekend we are going to shamelessly reshare all of the faces we feel are being overlooked. These animals have all been at the shelter longer than they should be and they all deserve to be in loving homes with families to call their own ❤️

MONDAY AND VIEWABLE TUESDAY AS LONG AS HE’S CLEARED. 😁

Onyx is a 6+ year old Chihuahua. This little guy came from a rough situation and is slowly showing us his silly side. He knows he’s a big baby and loves to be carried around and catered to! He loves to be with people and will gladly follow you around all day. He’s a bit chunky and will be put on a diet.(shhhh..don’t tell him we said that!) We think he’d do best with older kids that respect his space as he’s older(we haven’t seen him interact with kids just yet!)

Triple the cuteness with these three
4-month old mixed breed puppies (we see some terrier, pit bull and definitely Dogo Argentino in them but are not sure of their exact mix). The only breed we know they have in them is Good Puppies! ❤️❤️❤️

They had a rough start in life but despite that they are super friendly and love to play. They are full of energy and would do great in homes that are the same. They seriously could not be any cuter and we can’t wait to find them forever homes.

Hattie has stolen the hearts of everyone that has met her! ❤️❤️ She’s a 3 year old old Boxer mix who has the most pleasant disposition. She loves to do tricks: sit, paw, shake and more. Penne and Orzo wanna know why they haven’t found a home yet!

Orzo and Penne (male and female) are looking for their furever home TOGETHER! They were born and raised in a loving foster home since birth and are well socialized. We want to be very open and Transparent on how the cat, now named Miracle is doing. Unfortunately, she’s not doing well and we’re doing absolutely everything we can to keep her comfortable while also keeping her quality of life in mind. She is in rough shape. Over the next few days we will be monitoring her closely to ensure we choose the best choice of care for her. Much like her namesake, we’re hoping for a miracle for her.

This cute guy is Tanner. He’s a one-year-old terrier mix and weighs 40lbs. Tanner came in with his housemate Talia and has been the perfect “big brother”. He’s a friendly guy that likes playing with toys while chilling on the couch. He’s still got some puppy energy and we think he’d be best in an active household. This sweet, weak, sick old girl was found unresponsive by Cobleskill High School. She was laying IN the road and multiple cars almost hit her thinking she had already passed away... She was alive, frozen, and too weak to move. She’s warming up now and has some food in her belly. We’re posting incase she is someone’s missing cat. It’s going to be EXTREMELY bitter this week! Keep your furry family inside where it’s safe and warm.
There will be NO dog walking this week unless the weather is above freezing and no wind chill.
Don’t worry about the animals here, our amazing staff provides lots of toys, snacks, and calming music for the days they’re not able to be outside long!
We are open Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-3pm for viewing animals. 🐾💕

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Nick Juried. Nick was a true philanthropist and had a passion for everything Schoharie county including its history, the people and the animals. His vision was to leave this world a better place than he found it and in that, he succeeded.

We were lucky to have him as a friend of the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. Nick made a very generous donation to our shelter which in turn allowed us to apply for a NYS grant. With this money we have started construction on the future Juried Animal Wellness Clinic.

This clinic, which is being built on the grounds of our current shelter, will provide vet services not only for our own shelter animals, but in the future we are planning low cost spay and neuter and vaccine clinics for the entire Schoharie County community. This has been a dream of the shelter board for years and we were blessed that Nick shared in this vision. We were truly hoping he’d be able to see the clinic up and running and serving the animals and families in our community. We know he will watch down over this building, our animals and all those who pass through it.

In honor of Nick, we encourage each of you to go out and do something kind- make a donation, help someone in need- make a difference the way Nick did. God speed, our kind friend…we can only imagine the reception you are receiving at the end of the rainbow bridge. 🌈🐾🐾🌈🐾🐾❤️

Cocoa is a 1+ year old female. She was brought to us as pregnant stray and all of her kittens have since been adopted. She now patiently awaits for a home of her own and has been in the shelter since June! Cocoa can get rather stressed in the shelter environment and can come off as pretty grouchy, but we don't blame her! The sounds and smells can be overwhelming to some animals, and Cocoa just happens to be one of them. She's a pretty independent girl that'll generally keep to herself, but looooves to ask for affection when she knows you've got snacks!
Cocoa was in foster for 7 weeks with her kittens and did better in a home setting. She was in a home with kids, but the kids did allow her space as she was a nervous momma. We think she's do best in a home with kids 13+. She is good with cats and has not been
around dogs just yet.

She’s a bit plump (but shhhh 🤫 don’t tell her that) and could use a diet.

Jezebel is looking for her furever home. She is approximately 1 year old. She arrived to us with her litter of kittens which have since been adopted, so now she patiently awaits for a home of her own! She’s currently in our open cat room. She is super shy when you’re new to her…but with some treats and patience, she’ll be your friend! She’s great with cats and would adjust to dogs with patience.

Mashed Potatoes is looking for his furever home! He is approximately 6 months old. He is SUCH a sweetheart and absolutely loves people and attention! He’s great with cats and would adjust to dogs with some patience! Ever since arriving to ASSV, he has had trouble with diarrhea. He has made progress on a gastrointestinal food and is highly recommended to stay on this diet or at least a restricted diet of sensitive stomach food.

Our sweet old Maria is still patiently waiting for her furever home. She’s been with us for 269 days! If you’re looking for a couch hound, this girl could be your perfect cuddle companion! Maria will need a hound experienced home that knows the general behavior of a typical hound dog. She DOES bark. She's very vocal and likes to be heard! Maria is a 9 year old hound. She hasn’t had the best life and arrived to us covered in masses and had horrible ear infections. Despite this, she has been the sweetest girl that just absolutely loves attention. Her masses were removed and biopsied and we were ecstatic to find out they were benign. We are still working on her ears, but our vet believes she will have chronic ear infections and recommended we start her on a special diet. She will NEED to stay on this diet (Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed)!! Maria is housebroken, great on a leash, good with most dogs(does prefer to be boss dog in the household), and would be fine in a home with kids. She would do best in home without small animals.

Realizing we haven’t posted an update on our sweet Cooper, the kitten found in a chicken coop clinging to life. He is feeling SOOO much better! He’s still got some sniffles, but has made incredible progress. He’s got the appetite of a lion and loves to play! Please note that sweet Cooper is not ready for adoption just yet. When he is ready, we will repost him for adoption. 💕

Toralei is still looking for her furever home! She is SUPER sweet and affectionate. She absolutely loves to be held and cuddled. She is very vocal and loves to have conversations! She would adjust to cats with patience!

We try to bring as much peace and wellness into what could otherwise be very stressful days for these animals.
