Our cattle program is specifically designed to meet the current and future needs of the commercial cattlemen. We start with a genetic foundation consisting of cattle that are balanced in their genetic profile. To achieve this, we utilize multiple trait selection and genetic testing of economic relevant traits. What sets Rippe Gelbvieh apart is we work tirelessly to collect more in herd data than o

ur competitors. As a result, the EPD’s of our yearling bulls and females have higher accuracy than the majority of seedstock producers. We collect individual weights on the calves at birth, weaning, and yearling. We collect individual weights on our cows to calculate efficiency in addition to collecting udder scores. We ultrasound or receive actual carcass data from approximately 90% of the calves born each year. We capture docility scores of our bulls. We don’t overlook the basics either. Structurally sound, moderate framed, and easy fleshing females are found throughout our cowherd. Bottom line is we work hard to collect data for our customers to use in selection of their herd sires, thus increasing the profitability of their operation. Rippe Gelbvieh is continually looking for new genetics and more traits to test. Our start came from the commercial cattle industry and we continue to manage our registered herd as similar to commercial operations as possible.
