This WISH LIST WEDNESDAY, we are sharing some of what's needed to keep our piggies healthy and happy. We always need nippers to trim hooves, saw wire to trim tusks, and gloves to protect ourselves while doing it. We have so many little things that add up, and every gift off our wish lists helps cut back costs! Plus, we love presents and Short Stack love love loves playing with the crinkly packing paper!

Betsey's Best Advice:

"Empathy involves understanding others’ emotions and experiences, and a great friend easily does this for you."

Rocky is Betsey's Best friend. He was abused and used as a living bb gun target. Betsey helps him feel needed and he helps her feel safe. They are what we call a "bonded pair" and we will keep them together for life. Having someone to count on is always important. Everyone should feel loved and safe.

Remember: if you ever are having too hard of a time and don't feel like you have a friend to support you, call 988. There is always someone there who cares. ❤️

Betsey's Best!
Frozen peach sticks make summer Peachy Keen!

Betsey's Best Frozen Peach Sticks:

Ingredients:

• 1 pound peaches (skin and pit removed)

• 2 1/2 cups water

• 1/8 cup corn starch

• 3 cups oats

Directions:

Place the water and peaches in a pot and heat until the water boils. Reduce the heat to low and let the peaches simmer for 30 minutes or until they’re soft. Once the peaches are soft, mash them with a potato masher and return them to low heat.

Put the corn starch in a separate bowl and slowly add cold water while stirring (no more than 1/4 cup) until the corn starch is just barely dissolved. Add the corn starch to the peaches and stir. It will thicken quickly. Then, add the oats, and stir.

Refrigerate the mixture until it’s cold. Once the mixture is cold and a little firm, roll it into several long, log-like shapes. Roll the shapes into some more oats until they’re coated, then freeze. Once the “sticks” are frozen, remove from the freezer and serve

Weather Update: Yes, we are in the path of the storm, but our sun sails are getting taken down and we should be fine, except my poor peach tree in the front yard that leans a little more with each big storm. The piggies are just looking forward to more mud and will only really complain at breakfast and dinner.

For the FIRST TIME since we evacuated for Hurricane Florence, we will be closing for a few days. We will be closed August 7-10 so we can travel to CANADA to meet my daughter's fiancée's family!!!

"Betsey's Best!"

Always love that friend who's one in a melon!

Betsey's Best Watermelon Smoothy:

Cut up a medium-sized seedless watermelon and freeze the chunks in a zip lock bag.
Once frozen, mix the frozen watermelon and 16oz plain greek yogurt in a blender till smooth.
If you've had a rough day, I recommend that a people smoothie also gets a shot of blackberry liquor or watermelon vodka blended in.

Warning: This makes mom get sleepy, so those naughty babies run rampant. Bless their little hearts, they just can't control their crazy!

This WISH LIST WEDNESDAY we want to celebrate Phoenix! She is unique because her top jaw and nose actually curve about 40° right, leaving her with a misaligned jaw and a tongue that always sticks out. In the wild, she would never survive, but with us she is doing wonderful! She just needs to have lots more time to eat, so she gets princess treatment with her own eating area. Please think of sending her, or one of our other pigs a special gift this week!

Tango is back in the writer's room trying to come up with a Hungry Hungry Hippos joke 🤣

Baby Cheese passed away this morning. He started having balance issues and was supposed to have his imaging done this afternoon, but he went from stumbles yesterday, to serious difficulty breathing early this morning, and the emergency vet said it was time. His insides grew way faster than his outside did, and his poor little body couldn't handle it. Our prayers are with his foster mom, who I'm sure he will be waiting for, on the other side of Rainbow Bridge. She held him on her chest and told him he was loved till the end.

I bet you can already see the difference to be able to pinpoint the pictures from the day he came to the rescue to now - just a week later! He is eating well and getting stronger every day!
