Cat Barn Inc Non-Profit 501c3 Scaredy Cat Rescue Shelter for Socialization, Relocation, Sanctuary, and Adoption. We are NOT a medical shelter. Evaluation is our mission!
(25)

At Risk ONLY** Amputees, Animal Cruelty, Euthanasia, and/or colony Cats have died! All cats must be healthy upon intake! The founder started with a behavioral challenged adopted rescued cat in 2006. This cat named "BABY" hid under the bed for 2 months! Char, the founder, did not take the cat back but let Baby take her time to acclimate to her new home and eventually Baby started being social with

her and a year later started being social with the family and later started being social with anyone. Then Char had 2 more kids & they were diagnosed with behavioral or challenged disorders which also attributed her knowledge of dealing with behavior challenges. Baby passed away July 2021 & char decided to start a rescue. OUR THOUGHTS, MISSION, & INTAKES:

Some cats have behaviors, personalities, likes, & dislikes similar to people & we should respect that not knowing where they came from or what they have been through, especially being rescued from the street, injured, or coming from a deceased owner. We strive to evaluate all supposed "feral" cats that come in to our shelter to be evaluated for a minimum of 1 week to 30 days for proper placement & behavior evaluation. We do NOT place cats to Barns that are not able to be barn cats and are NOT feral. Many cats seem to mimic "feral" behavior in the outdoor environment but are in reality scared and want to be dependent upon humans as an indoor cat & life companion. We provide a second chance for the "RESCUED" cats to be able to live out their lives in placement where they want. We do NOT support what the COMMUNITY wants; we support what the CATS want & need! We have found that 80% of the cats that we receive as "feral" are actually social cats and were just scared to be outside. These cats do NOT need to go to barn homes! We also provide sanctuary and enclosed relocations for injured ferals (amputees, eye enocleation, deformities, etc.). We are unable to intake medically needy/sick ferals or unsocial cats at this time. However, we do take FIV positive cats.

Sunday we got these six kitties for rescue due to a home demolition and possible threats by the person who will be buying the property. They will be in isolation to see if any are friendly. Some from the group of over 20 cats in the colony were friendly and are with people for socialization.

I have been pretty busy the past few days calculating and manually entering the numbers of intakes & outcomes for reporting for applying for a grant and currently I am happy to report these numbers.

2023 Annual Reporting Information (still working):

Beginning year count: 72 residents
Annual Intake: 155 cats (FAS, Stray, Transfer, Surrender)
Annual Outcome: 132 (Barns,Adoptions, transfers, Other)
Annual in Care: 227 (Residents + intakes)
End Year Count: 95 Residents

2023 Saved percentage:
Total In Care: 95% Saved
Total Intake: 95% Saved

2023 Total In Care %:
41% Residents/Sanctuary
24% Barn Relocations
22% Transfer Adoptions
7% Adoptions
5% Rainbow Bridge***
1% Transfers for Medical Needs

***2023 5% Rainbow Bridge:
Became sick while here, came in sick, or sudden death of unknown cause. As everyone knows we are definitely a NO-kill rescue and try to the best that we can, but we are also dealing with a percentage of the cat community that is also very difficult to handle, contain, and get medical for in a decent time frame, locally, or even provided due to the behaviors of the cats here.

We also have had a few of immune difficient or seniors that fell ill in 2023 & this year and had a few of our scaredy cats pass away with no warning signs while in the free roam enclosures showing only signs of what could be cardiac issues and we call most of our cats "mystery cats".

I believe that for as limited volunteers that are available and trained that these numbers are amazing! To Believe that a majority of these cats may have ended up euthanized, alone outdoors to die, or possibly endure animal cruelty prior to our existance is something all of us should be proud to have helped support our mission!

We have turned what could have been 155 non-live outcome statistics in 2023 into 146 Saved Outcomes cats and with help from our supporters, community, partners, and especially the trappers!

NOTE: These numbers may be updated throught the year and reports for 2021 & 2022 will be generated as I go through entering all our data in a custom excel worksheet that I am creating due to low adoption numbers making it frustrating to use adoption focused animal welfare program platforms that charge $$ for outcomes when this rescue is primarily supposed to function on a flow system of transferring out the adoptable cats and saving the scaredy cats to be relocated to safe areas to extend their life instead of the alternatives.

I'll keep searching for those grants that will match our mission until then thanks for your support and we are still supported by community donations in goods, services, and monetary in order to continue our mission.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer any requests until next week due to family. My mom (Tricia) is having surgery tomorrow that will put a lot of work caregiving and cleaning as a higher priority. Thankfully, Ms. Pam is able to help on Friday and Ms. Karyl can come for a little bit on Saturday - CHAR

We may have a new volunteer, but training and scheduling is still being reviewed.

Thanks for understanding!

Meet Grace! 🐱 This little scaredy kitty has been with us for about 2 years. She was brought to us with scabies, and due to her fearful behavior, others couldn't take her in.

After a quarantine period, we began socializing her, but it proved to be quite challenging. Grace never fully warmed up to human companionship. We tried to reacclimate her outdoors, but she struggled with the temperature after being indoors for so long.

Ever since, Grace has been indoors where she has less of a chance of getting sick again. Please share, like, or consider donating to help us continue our work. Thank you for your support! 🙏❤️

🐾 Meet Timmy! 🐱💕

This is our sweet Timmy! Over a year ago, he came to us from Moon Lake where he was trapped. While some of the kitties found forever homes, Timmy was initially only comfortable in small spaces. Whenever he had more room to roam, he preferred to keep his distance.

Eventually, Timmy settled into our outdoor enclosure and has been with us ever since. During his time here, he's formed a special bond with Jack, our resident from 2021 who's also a big brother figure to many others.

Timmy's journey is a reminder of the many cats that have taken residence here. Not a true barn cat, not considered adoptable, but always in need of a forever safe loving home. 💖

🐾 Sometimes, it's really hard to get good photos of the scaredy cats in the enclosures. 📸

Cher has been with us for about a year now, along with her sibling Blair. She came to us at around 4 months of age and has never quite warmed up to the idea of being adoptable. She loves to run and hide all day!

We're hoping to eventually find her a barn cat relocation with some buddies or provide sanctuary while she waits for her perfect home.

Please continue to share, like, and donate to support these kitties still awaiting their forever homes! 🐱💕

🐾 Meet Ragga! 🐱 She's been with us for nearly 2 years and is now looking for her forever home. Originally here due to behavioral issues, we discovered she had a uterus infection (hydrometra) which has since healed.

Raja has completed her rehabilitation and adoption evaluation, and she's ready for a loving family! She adores attention, belly rubs, and is good with other cats, though she thrives best in a one or two cat household for all the possible cuddles she can get!

Let's find Ragga her perfect match! 🏡💕

ATTENTION!!! You can MAKE a DIFFERENCE!

😻😻😻😻😺😺😻😺😻😺😻

We are going to be posting about 1 cat per day (if able) that is a resident here that have no where to go due to not classified as barn cat & not able to be transferred out for store adoptions due to overstimulated, timid, unsocial, fas, unsocial eye inoculations, tri-pods, scaredy cats unable to re-acclimate to outdoor temperatures, age of cats, FIV, and more!

If ANYONE is interested simply in fostering for a few weeks a different cat so they can get a break from the other cats they co-habit with would be such a blessing! Who knows...maybe it's your next family member and a bond is instantly created or they steal your heart!

🐾 Introducing Kiddie, a dear senior cat who found herself at our rescue almost a year ago after her elderly owners moved to a nursing home. Transitioning hasn't been easy for her timid soul, but she's making strides every day.

🌟 Since arriving, Kiddie has blossomed and she has had an eye inoculation. She now lets us pet her gently, trim her nails, and occasionally pick her up—a testament to her growing trust and comfort.

🏡 Despite her initial shyness, Kiddie dreams of finding her forever home. We know that adopting a senior cat with a reserved nature like hers comes with challenges, but every cat deserves love and happiness.

🌱 We encourage long-term fostering for cats like Kiddie, providing them a respite from the multi-cat environment and a chance to form deep bonds with foster families.

💕 Please consider opening your heart and home to a timid cat like Kiddie. Your patience and compassion can change her life forever. Together, let's ensure every cat receives the love and care they deserve.

**Unfortunately, we can only take in a select few timid seniors a year due to high risk of depression and medical needs! These cats have a required donation fee and continued donations for their stay here for medical, supplies, and care***

This is after being outside in ONE enclosure for an hour shoveling the litter areas to dump the old and start with fresh litter for the cats. No wonder we don't get volunteers for outdoor work. 😅😆😂 It's definitely hard work and need a shower right after!

But, this is what I do every day. Somedays, my family is able to help and once or twice a month Pam comes over for a full day to clean. If I don't respond to requests or post, this is what I am doing - Char 🐱🐱

🐾 Meet Kaz! 🐱 Since joining us, Kaz has adjusted beautifully to our free-roaming cat environment and is getting along well with all his feline companions.

Kaz is currently up for adoption but is looking for a special home—a loving and understanding household with only one to two cats, and preferably without dogs.

He may need 3 days to a week to settle in and can become overstimulated if petted excessively or exposed to new smells on clothes.

Can you provide Kaz with a forever home or foster him? Let's find him the perfect match! 🏡❤️

🌟 Heartwarming News! 🌟

We have the most wonderful update to share about Livvy and Fritz, two of our scaredy kitties that have been here since July 2023! 🐾 They've finally found their perfect new home at a nearby horse barn, just a quick 5-minute drive from us. 🏡❤️

These two fur babies were in need of a special place where they could feel safe and free roam, and thanks to the compassionate caregiver at the horse barn, they have found just that! 🐱✨ Not only will they have plenty of space to explore and play, but their new caregiver has also pledged to continue their medical care, ensuring they receive all the necessary vaccines and check-ups through future trappings. 🩺💕

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported Livvy and Fritz on their journey to finding happiness, which are all of our followers who contiue to donate to our cause. Your kindness and generosity have made all the difference in their lives! 🙏 Let's continue to spread love and support for all animals in need. 🐾💖

🐾 **Urgent Animal Rescue Update** 🐾

Sad news, but also good news! Due to scheduling changes with Tractor Supply, we won't be able to do adoption events until mid or end of July. However, we have exciting news to share! Our boys will be transferred to our amazing partner at Tampa Bay Strays soon for adoption, freeing up space for more rescues.

These boys are on their way to finding their forever homes, thanks to Tampa Bay Strays' dedication and care. Plus, we're gearing up to welcome 4 stressed black kitties from PRC next week!

Stay tuned for updates and consider adopting or fostering to make a difference! 🐱💕

💖🐾 Update on Willow's Journey 💖🐾

We've had quite a journey with Willow lately, but she's a true fighter! After her recent spay surgery at Pasco County Animal Services, she needed some extra care and attention. We noticed a few concerns with her incision, so we took her back for a recheck yesterday. The vet administered an antibiotic shot and recommended continued rest with a cone to aid her recovery.

Despite these challenges, we have some wonderful news to share! Thanks to the incredible individual for reaching out, we have a loving foster placement for Willow while she is recovering with one of our very first 2021 fosters! She's already on her way there, receiving all the TLC she deserves.

We're optimistic about Willow's recovery and will keep everyone updated on her progress. Thank you all for your unwavering support and love during this time. Together, we're making a difference in the lives of animals like Willow! 🌟💕
