T-Minus 29 days and counting!!

Our first does are due very soon, so preparations have begun. The first 11 does are due between 1/28 and 2/5. All does that were dry last year are bred for this coming season and I am so happy to have them back on the rotation. Most of these girls were too far along at ultrasounding to get a count, but I have my suspicions. Some of these girls should be carrying a wide load sign. Ha ha.

And that's a wrap folks!!!! Milkation is in full swing! Tomorrow morning everyone will be dry in preparation for our first kids who are due starting in just 6 short weeks. We have run OS/AR for over a decade now but next year we will be doing ITP-02. We have some stellar girls that I believe can go far!! The majority of the herd was dried on the 20th of November so they have completed lactations which I will post below. The rest we will have to wait on reports. We are looking forward to next year!! I am rather proud of these girls!!

What can I say about Miss Valkyrie. She is certainly one of a kind. Unlike 99% of her dams progeny, Valkyrie is a massive doe in many aspects. A deep frame that is carried beautifully with a superbly attached mammary and excellent teat placement. Production is certainly there as well as she will hit the 3000lb + club this year!! Oh Baby Bell. My little coccidia survivor. Almost 4 years ago we had a breakthrough of coccidia in one of the older kid pens, spent thousands in vet bills trying to save them but in the end it was Baby Bell alone who pulled through. Stunted that first year we left her dry and just allowed her to be. I couldn't bring myself to sell her so she stayed. As a 2yo she was big enough to be bred and although she only gave a single kid, she made her star. This year as a 2F she came out swinging. A good growth spurt came during lactation and she surprised us all appraising an 88 as a 3yo 2F!! Her mammary is beyond compare, perfect in almost every way. She just needs to have more than one to get that production up. This year she has milked over 2000lbs so it's there, just need.... More. Drama, Drama, Drama. What a spitting image of your dam, just in a tiny package. But that udder!!! It is near perfection. It's high, it's tight, and smoothly blended and she has the most superb teat placement to boot!! Weighing in at a whopping 115lbs, Drama is quite small for her age although she has never been sick a day in her life, so her production is not as amazing as some of the others her age. Miss Agathina. A diamond in the rough. A reserve grand and a grand champion win this year left me looking a bit closer at 3yo Aggie. I guess I should clip and present my does more often - I have come to realize I have some real lookers here. A spitting image of her dam Monarch, Aggie sports her sires production yet kept her dams solid type. A favorite in the barn and parlor, Aggie is a no fuss doe. Aggie is slated to be AI'd this year but she has yet to cycle. And so, depending on when she does, that will determine whether or not she is live covered or AI'd.

Rebel is a 2yo FF who has simply blown me away. Only 123 days in milk and she has exceeded all requirements to earn her star in all 3 categories!! Peaking at 13.7lbs and maintaining over 11lbs still, she has made me very proud. Rebel is a massive 2yo topping the scales at 170lbs and her kids look to follow suit. Eden pulls more than her fair share in the milk department. As a FF she came out swinging and has surpassed herself as a 2yo 2F already milking over 2000lbs in 188 days. True to her lines, Eden is all production packaged in a rather immature 2yo. She has done her job well and will be dry for 2025. She will return as a 4yo 3F in 2026.

The last daughter of Monarch, Dream holds a special place in my heart so you can bet my surprise, and the tears, were plastered on my face when this 2yo totally shocked us by appraising an 88! Not the biggest producer in the herd, much to my disappointment she has only given singles, but I do believe if she ever freshens with more than one she will be a superstar. TIMBER!!! And here I thought Winter was smashing it.... With an ME of over 4300lbs (another doe who milks with a SINGLE) I am just astounded at the sheer amount of milk this girl makes. This afternoon 2yo QMF IV'S EAST OF EDEN 3*M presented us with a pair of twin boys. These boys take after their sire and are nice and wide. Eden wasn't progressing like she should so a quick check to see what the hold up was and I had my answer. 3 feet and a crooked head. After some pushing and pulling and rearranging of a head I was able to get the first one out, a huge cou claire. As I am drying him off I look over to see placental remnants before the kid so I helped again and pulled the two Toned boy. Both boys have eaten and are getting nice and dry before moving to the new nursery in the barn.
