Find our own organic duck eggs at
.. Though they won't be certified organic for much longer, friends ... Not because we are changing anything (we have always used certified organic feed, and follow a high standard of pasture rotation, and animal treatment)
But because (as you may have noticed) the economic and regulatory landscape is shifting quickly and among the many impacts - there is no federal funding this year for cost-share program farmers can take advantage of to off-set the high cost of organic certification. Our little tiny farm, for example, paid just over $1300 last year, and it just goes up from there.
So, we will take a pause on our organic certification this year. We hope this is short term, because we are strong advocates for voting with our dollars and investing in the institutions we want to succeed - without national organic standards (however imperfect and wavering to the trends), there is no collective standard, transparency, or accountability. And then we each have to dig deeper, and learn more personally where our food comes from? If you care about that kinda thing.
