This dog was roaming a neighborhood in Huffman for about a week. I heard neighbors were starting to shoot at her when she went on their property so I went to see what was going on. She immediately ran to me to say hi. She loves people and just wanted someone to pet her. She was terrified to come inside at first so I assume she has never lived inside. She is not microchipped and no owner has come forward. Of course she is in heat so we will get her spayed ASAP. We don’t need more unwanted puppies in Houston. Please consider donating to her care.

Unfortunately we had to let Scooby go peacefully. He was not able to maintain his PCV even while getting medication through his IVs. His body was attacking his red blood cells which was causing the anemia. His ultrasound showed nothing abnormal which lead to the diagnosis of either AIHA or bone marrow cancer. Both of which would’ve left him constantly needing blood transfusions. Scooby was always a crazy happy boy and we knew a life hooked up to a blood machine was not going to be a good life. The last thing we wanted was for him to have to suffer. Scooby never met anyone he didn’t love and he will be missed.

Thank you to everyone who donated to his care. Even though we didn’t get the outcome we wanted, we are glad we were able to get answers so we could make an educated decision.

Scooby update. He is still stable and his vitals are good. He is walking around a little. He regurgitated a bit so he still isn’t interested in food. He has an ultrasound scheduled for later today to hopefully give us more answers. He’s been such a sweet boy during all of this even being in a new place. I’m hoping I can go visit him later today. Please keep sharing his story and sending him love. We are not out of the woods yet.

Thank you for taking such great care of him!!

Scooby was taken to Blue Pearl Emergency Pet Hospital this morning. He was no longer able to get up on his own so we made the decision to not wait for his recheck appointment tomorrow. He will be hospitalized for at least 36 hours. They are doing a blood transfusion to see if he can regenerate any on his own or if he is going to continue to lose it. They are also running more tests to see if we can get any more answers. His bill is starting at $3,500 up to $5,500. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What was supposed to be a regular vet visit turned into a nightmare. Please share/donate to help Scooby.

A concerned neighbor saw a neglected dog living outside 24/7 and reached out for help. As soon as we saw the condition of the dog, we knew we couldn’t let her suffer any longer. The owner agreed to surrender her to our rescue and we immediately took her to the vet. They had to sedate her to shave all of her painful, matted hair off. She has multiple mammary masses, dental disease, some eye concerns, and is very underweight. They gave us eye medicine and will do a follow up in a week.

We just got our 501c3 and haven’t been able to raise funds yet. However, we couldn’t let her live in pain any longer. We have been able to save 93 dogs over the past 2.5 years and transport them to Utah for adoption with our partner rescue. Now that we have our nonprofit status we hope to be able to help many more. No amount is too small. A share, like, or follow will help us reach more people who can help. It takes a village to save all these animals in Houston and we are happy to be a part of the hard working people making a difference everyday.

I love how our logo turned out! Doof was the inspiration for the rescue and why I fell in love with helping special needs dogs. She has no idea she is different and is just happy to have a second chance at life. Of course we had to make her the face of the rescue.

Starting a nonprofit rescue has been a dream of mine for a while now. Since moving to Houston in July of 2021, we have been able to help 90 dogs get off the street and into homes with our partner rescue Ruff Patch Rescue. It really does take a village to help these animals and I’m so grateful for all the support we have received along the way. I know together we can make a difference one Doof at a time. Every like, comment, share, and follow help more than you know.
