8 in 10 pet owners want a licensed veterinarian, not a midlevel employee, to oversee their pet’s care. Proposed Initiative 145 introduces an entirely new role in Colorado called a Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA), whose training would be mostly online with minimal hands-on instruction and allowed to perform surgery after only a one-semester internship.

This initiative seeks to allow unlicensed and unregulated professions with limited training and experience to preform abdominal surgeries on pets. This is being promoted by corporate vet clinic chains and animal welfare groups and is misleading to the public. PLEASE DECLINE TO SIGN ANY petitions presented to you on this initiative!
