8 in 10 pet owners want a licensed veterinarian, not a midlevel employee, to oversee their petโ€™s care. Proposed Initiative 145 introduces an entirely new role in Colorado called a Veterinary Professional Associate (VPA), whose training would be mostly online with minimal hands-on instruction and allowed to perform surgery after only a one-semester internship.

DECLINE TO SIGN: Ballot Initiative #145
This initiative seeks to allow unlicensed and unregulated professions with limited training and experience to preform abdominal surgeries on pets. This is being promoted by corporate vet clinic chains and animal welfare groups and is misleading to the public. PLEASE DECLINE TO SIGN ANY petitions presented to you on this initiative!

I guess even Santa has to get a health certificate!๐ŸฆŒ ๐ŸฆŒ ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿ›ท๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป
Washington, D.C., December 21, 2023) โ€“ The U.S. Department of Agricultureโ€™s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) today issued a transit permit to Mr. S. Nicholas Claus of the North Pole, a distributor with Gifts and Good Cheer, Inc. The permit will allow reindeer to enter and exit the United States between the hours of 6 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2023, and 6 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2023, local time, through or over any U.S. border port.

"USDA is delighted to grant Mr. Claus and his reindeer a special permit to enter the United States, ensuring a seamless journey for the joy they bring each holiday season," said Jenny Lester Moffitt, Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs. "We extend a warm welcome to Mr. Claus and recognize the vital role of U.S. milk and cookies in fueling his festive flight."

Veterinary officials ensured the reindeer met all entry requirements before issuing the permit. Dr. Rosemary Sifford, USDAโ€™s Chief Veterinary Officer, stated: โ€œAt a recent inspection, the reindeer were found to be healthy and able to prance and paw with each hoof.โ€

It was noted on the health certificate that one reindeer, Rudolph, has a minor physical anomaly. However, APHIS indicated that Rudolphโ€™s red nose, while bright, was normal for him and not a concern.

APHIS regulates the movement of cervids, including reindeer, to protect the health of Americaโ€™s livestock population. The permitting process provides assurance that only healthy animals enter the United States.

USDA has confirmed that the reindeer will arrive pulling a wooden sleigh with jingling bells attached, filled with brightly wrapped gifts. Port personnel will clean and disinfect the runners and underside of the sleigh at the time of entry. They will also conduct a short visual inspection of the reindeer. Mr. Claus has been asked to disinfect his boots and thoroughly wash his hands. These measures are intended to prevent the entry of any livestock diseases the team may encounter during deliveries to farms and houses around the world prior to entering the United States.

Mr. Claus also provided an advance list of what port personnel should expect upon their arrival. This includes a variety of food items, all of which come from approved locations and none of which pose a threat to U.S. animal or plant health.

โ€œItโ€™s important that Gifts and Good Cheer, Inc. take all the right steps and precautions to protect against the potential introduction of pests and diseases,โ€ explained Mr. Claus. โ€œI appreciate USDAโ€™s assistance every year as we gear up for our big night.โ€

*EDIT: CSU is now stating that the below email was a fake. Their response email is in the comments.
๐ŸšจThe CSU administration is continuing to choose to degrade the opportunities and education they provide students interested in large animal medicine. They are doing this while at the same time claiming that they are doing all they can do to for the large animal vet shortage. If you care about the future of access to large animal vets for your operation and others around the state. Please consider writing them about the importance of the education of the vets they graduate.

Please consider helping The Kirby Family whoโ€™s home and belongings were decimated by the storm in Hugo.

Community Announcement: Support the Kirby Family's Roof Replacement Fund!

In the wake of the recent storm that struck Hugo, we were saddened to learn about the Kirby family's home being severely impacted. The storm's powerful winds tore off their roof, leaving them in a very difficult situation. As a tight-knit community that cares for one another, we now have the opportunity to come together and lend a helping hand.

A dedicated fund for donations has been set up at Town and Country Hardware, to benefit the Kirby Family. Our goal is to raise $4,500 to cover the cost of building supplies necessary for replacing their roof.

How can you contribute to this cause? It's simple! Just visit Town and Country Hardware and let the staff know that you wish to make a donation to the Kirby Family's Roof Replacement Fund. Every little bit counts, and together, we can reach our goal and restore safety and security to their home.

Help us spread the word. The more people we reach, the closer we get to our target, and the sooner we can begin rebuilding the Kirby family's home and lives. Please keep in mind that any amount, big or small, will make a significant impact. Thank you in advance for your unwavering support, care, and kindness.

Together, we can make a difference!

UPS is gearing up to strike starting Aug 1st, this is projected to hurt rural small businesses the most. We are urging all our customers to order their fall pre-weaning vaccines and fall antibiotics ASAP. We donโ€™t want our customers or their animals to suffer from lack of access to needed medications.

If UPS workers go on strike next month, the disruption stands to impact the economy, businesses and customers directlyโ€”hereโ€™s how it could all play out.

Are you looking to improve the reproductive success and productivity of your herd?

Make sure to schedule your bulls for annual breeding soundness exams (BSE). BSE can help identify potential reproductive issues early on, improve breeding success, increase efficiency, and ultimately, save you money.

At an average cost of $48 per head, BSE is a small price to pay for the significant benefits it provides. Don't let unproductive bulls hold back your herd's potential. Schedule your BSE today!
