Kennel I (Vern Oostra) have always desired a Labrador Retriever for a hunting partner ever since I got into waterfowling.

After Storm turned a year old, I knew that i needed help with training since he was my first dog. After a couple months of training, I was introduced to HRC Hunt Tests. These hunt tests have opened my eyes to what these dogs are capable of and how we can work together to be great teams. Because of this I my goal for Prairie Slough Retrievers is achieving champion gundogs that are enjoyable both in the field and in the house.

Well Rain is officially in training with Luttrell Kennels. She will be with them in Arkansas for a couple months and potentially for a couple more months when they come back to South Dakota. Excited for what she has to offer and to see her potential come through her training. Vernon Oostra

Rain got to tag along to Kansas for a couple days of duck hunting. The warm weather slowed the birds a bit but overall it was allot of fun. Vernon Oostra

Lily was officially confirmed pregnant via ultrasound on Thursday 9-15-2022. We be taking deposits for 3 males and 3 females. If you're looking for some hard charging dogs in the field and wanting an off switch for the house these are for you. All health clearances and health tests have been done and are available per request.
