We provide therapeutic horsemanship, educational, recreational, and sports programming, including vocational/prevocational opportunities to at-risk youth, youth, and adults with disabilities. Our mission is to teach adults and youth with disabilities how to ride and care for horses.
• We see our students with disabilities succeed scholastically, physically, and mentally. We help at-risk youth wi
th court-ordered community service understand that education is worthwhile and work can be challenging but truly rewarding.
• Students at risk of dropping out are "dropping back in”. We provide volunteers the opportunity to be of service while immersed in an environment of inclusion and compassion.
• Our volunteers grow by meeting new people, especially if they are new to the area, strengthening their ties to the community, and participating in fun and fulfilling activities. We provide well-trained horses with a rewarding job in their golden years.
• Our great herd includes seven mares and two geldings, ranging from 9 to 25. This includes four trained cutting horses, two dressage horses, one trail horse, and two endurance/racehorses.

Hoping the weather forecast holds. If so, August 31 and September 1 we will have paint your horse wash your horse day from 9 am until noon. It's time to use your fingers, massage the horse, and have fun too.
Before any animal rights advocate panics - the paint is 50% mane & tail shampoo and 50% non-toxic water based paint.

Don’t forget our 25 year fundraiser is this Friday. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to show support. All donations are greatly appreciated, as this funds our program 2025.
It's July 14. Dream Catcher Stables Inc came through Beryl "without a scratch or dent". Horses are fine. Barn aisle and stall floors got very wet. 2 trees came down but not near anything or any horse - no problem. Electricity went out and is still out so program is suspended until electricity returns as it is too hot to ride.
Our 25th birthday celebration is just a bit over a month away. Are you coming?

Klein Oak Student Council’s Generosity Fuels Dream Catcher Stables’ Mission Youth leadership supports adaptive riding for individuals with disabilities
June 4, Houston, TX — Dream Catcher Stables is thrilled to announce a generous donation of $38,000 from the Klein Oak High School Student Council. This impressive fundraiser, held in the fall of 2023, enabled Dream Catcher Stables to make the final payment of $31,911.48 on their Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL).
Each year, the Klein Oak High School Student Council selects a local charity to raise funds for via homecoming, charity shirt sales, and more. In the fall of 2023, their discerning choice fell upon Dream Catcher Stables, Inc. The student officers were particularly driven to support a local, grassroots organization that aids youth with disabilities. According to Abby Garrison, faculty advisor, “We’re very proud of our students. They have elevated their student leadership to foster a culture of citizenship that extends well beyond their immediate sphere of influence.”
“We are immensely grateful for the generosity of the Klein Oak Student Council and their support for our mission,” remarked Sanna Roling, founder and president of Dream Catcher Stables. "I'm truly inspired by the collective effort of these students in aiding our cause. Their gift not only enabled us to clear our federal EIDL debt but also provided an additional $6,088.52 for future needs, including the pursuit of matching grants.” This funding will be instrumental in advancing important programs for disabled youth and adults, veterans, and leadership programs for young adults.

With 25 years of successes behind us we are serious about raising the money to secure a permanent home. To that end we are collecting rinsed, squashed Aluminum cans - eighty million of them - to raise $1,600,000 and get us started on that percent home. Bring your cans every Saturday or Sunday morning 9-11 and we'll do the rest.

The result of working with an at-risk youth program. When they went to leave one of the youth grabbed this from the vehicle and handed it to Sanna. We love what we do!

Meet the leader of our herd and “head equine therapist”. 2019 Certified Horsemanship Horse of the Year, at the age of 34 S**t IS the Herd boss. With a bit more gray than before and joints that prefer to move a bit slower, she allows the younger mares to share in “boss” duties. However, there’s no mistaking whose really boss.
So what IS special about a 34 year old “mutt” named S**t? She can sense when her athlete is about to have a seizure. Yes, even before we or the athlete has a clue, S**t will carefully inform us that there is a problem giving us those precious extra seconds to keep every living being safe.
A gift from a Vietnam veteran who did not want the horse caught in a divorce, we were told that she was named for her color and that, when she figures she’s done for the day she starts limping. So let’s go with the name first -- coming from Oklahoma, we allow as how she was probably named by either a wheat or corn rancher. Both of those crops have a fungus called “smut”. To meet our horse, S**t, is to understand the color of that fungus. And yes, when she arrived we were told about the limping. Yes, S**t did try more than once to quit work early. Every time we watched carefully. She would always switch feet and once she even tried switching all four feet. Needless to say, we had her number and YES we were very careful to be certain that she WAS faking.
So now that you have heard a horse tale, how about a few human tales that are a bit more recent.
One of our families went to see the horse races one evening. Our athlete now wants to be a jockey. Mom and Dad tried to explain and we did our part too. At his tender age he is too tall and weighs too much to be a flat race jockey. There’s a lot he needs to learn to be capable of riding a horse at that speed, but he is willing to learn and we are willing to teach him to ride safely at all gaits - walk, trot, canter (walk, jog, lope). Then he will become a volunteer with us and learn about daily horse care. After all of that, if he still wants a career with horses, we’ll gladly help him find a suitable job.
Two brothers came to ride. For one, putting on the helmet was traumatic, mounting was okay, and movement of any kind was an instant get off. The other enjoyed the entire experience. Their second day we put the eager one up first and let the reluctant one slowly pet, then put on the helmet, then sit on the horse. When he pulled the reins the horse backed one step. So we asked for 2 and then for 3. Then we asked for them to walk forward and ever since that young man is happy to ride. Now he comes, rides, and even stays mounted longer than his brother.
The last story is about a volunteer who lost himself, found our program, and is enjoying teaching our most challenging riders. Along the way he is finding himself and planning his future career which includes Dream Catcher Stables Inc.
Volunteers are always welcome. Dream Catcher Stables Inc is an ALL VOLUNTEER PUBLIC CHARITY. No one gets paid to work here. All monies go to take care of the horses, maintain the facility, and pay required and necessary insurance. Athletes are accepted regardless of their ability to pay. Funding comes from the public, businesses, and a few grants.
