Happy Halloween from our pups to yours! 🐾

We had hoped to share photos through it the months of our pups in cute costumes, but fortunately a lot of them found rescues pretty quickly after getting their photo shoots 😱

Of the three below, only Tweety (Cowgirl on the middle) is still looking for her forever home. Treat yourself to a new pet before the holidays! 🐾

As the colder months approach, we are now accepting donations of used in good-condition/new dog houses to help support pets in our community. These donations will be given to pet owners who are committed to keeping their pups warm but need a little extra assistance to do so⛄️

If you have a dog house that’s no longer in use or would like to purchase one to donate, you can message us here on our page or give us a call at 731-618-7992🐾

All of these dogs are available at the Humboldt City Pound at 500 S Seventh Ave in Humboldt, Tennessee. All animals adopted from the pound are required to be vaccinated for rabies and spayed/neutered upon adoption, NO EXCEPTIONS. Our adoptions fees vary, but we have no pull fee for reputable 501c3 rescue groups.

We are open Monday-Friday 7 AM-3 PM, but ask that you call ahead of time to ensure someone can be there if you'd like to meet a dog.

‼️MISSING CAT‼️ We believe this cat has been spotted around Mitchell St and surrounding streets several times, her owners are looking for her and are desperate to have her back home safe before it gets cold! Please SHARE and reach out to us ASAP if you see her. She is currently wearing a pink collar. If she lets you pick her up, please do so until owners can get her.

Paws & Claws took Four dogs from us this go around! Flora, Carlton, Eggo and Koi all busted out of our crazy shelter and will be headed to their northern rescues this week thanks to them. That’s four less dogs running around town! Please consider donating towards transport costs so our kiddos can get to where they need to be to have a brighter future. 🐾❤️

Everyone wants a small dog, yet DD is our smallest and longest resident in shelter and has never received any sort of interest 😞

This girl is a whopping 35 pounds and ALL of that is in silliness. If you’re looking for a small to medium sized dog, but are a little scared they won’t be able to keep up with the larger dogs in your home… look no further than DD! 🥰

DD has become our very official, pawsitively perfect dog testing dog. She is GREAT with smaller or larger dogs. DD really doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. She makes quick friends with other dogs and really enjoys her time spent romping around with others. ❤️

The unfortunate thing we must mention about DD is that she has quickly began to succumb to kennel neurosis, and really needs to find a home as soon as possible to prevent this from escalating further. She spends most of the day pacing her kennel, and even when she is let out to potty, she has become so disassociated with her surroundings that she won’t even leave her kennel anymore. She just continues pacing in confusion. If you know DD at all, you know how disheartening this is. She is a super upbeat, and outgoing dog who is enduring a lot of stress right now.

DD lights up at the chance for a walk or play time. We have worked with her a lot on her leash manners, and the amount of pulling is minimal! DD has mastered sitting for treats, and is treat motivated so we know she can learn so much more with a family that is willing to give her a shot! ❤️‍🩹

DD can be a little shy with new people, but warms up fast. She has learned to place her head on your knee when she wants attention or to climb up in your lap. We’ve discovered she has a pretty mild energy level, so she would love a home where she has as many opportunities to exercise as she does lounging around the house. DD would be great in a home with kids! 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

DD is full grown at a year old and 35 pounds. She has been vaccinated, treated for internal/external parasites and has tested negative for heartworm disease. DD has already been spayed thanks to an amazing sponsor.

This dog is located at the Humboldt City Pound in Humboldt, Tennessee. All visitors must call and schedule ahead of time if interested in adopting or meeting a dog. We recommend meet and greets with all household pets prior to adoption to ensure our dogs are a good fit with your household. Tennessee state law requires that all pets adopted from municipal shelters be spayed/neutered and up to date on rabies vaccines. Our shelter has no pull fee for approved 501c3 rescue groups.

Our sweet, vocal girl is still seeking her forever home after a full month here at the shelter. Tweety has come a long way in training and learning how to control her energy. She is more than ready to go to her forever home. ❤️🏡

She has already been spayed, is heartworm negative and 48 pounds at a 11 months old. 🐾

It's time to get the shelter ready for winter! ❄️

**FYI! We have swapped addresses. We can now receive packages at our physical location since we finally have a mailbox!

OK! So.. with temperatures dropping every night it seems, we went to test out all of our heat lamps and while most of the lamps themselves are in good condition, that is NOT the case with the bulbs from last year. Just about every kennel needs a new bulb in its heat lamp, and even the ones that don't.. we need to go ahead and replace them as they probably won't last very long. We have 14 kennels so we need 14 bulbs! ☀️

While most of our heat lamps are good, two of them have been destroyed due to mice biting through their cords while they were in storage. We need the entire lamp for these two kennels to ensure no dog goes without some heat source as temperatures drop lower and lower. 🥶

Last year, several of you purchased us super nice heaters! These are still in great shape, but we need to get a table to set them on to protect them from water when we are cleaning in the morning. We've put a metal table on our wishlist so we can set our heaters up on top of it to keep them working throughout this winter. We could honestly use two of these so we can get our fridge off the floor as well. 🐾

Last but not least, it is almost time to wrap our interior building with tarps. This helps keep the heat IN and sleet/snow out when we start getting winter weather. It also keeps ice from spawning inside our shelter which keeps our employees and dogs safe from falls. 😌

We know we are in that time of year where the weather is a little bit of everything, but we need to get prepared for the cold nights ahead and we would appreciate any and all help in doing this! ❤️

Introducing June to Humboldt! 🫣

This sweet girl may look familiar! This pup grew up in another shelter right here in West TN, and has been unlucky enough to end up right here in ours now. 💔

You read that right! June came into another shelter 30 minutes from here alongside 6 siblings when she was only 8 weeks old back in May. While she watched her siblings get picked and adopted, she ended up staying at that shelter for MONTHS with no luck! Now, she is all grown up and just when she thought she was lucky enough to leave the shelter life behind, she has ended up right here at ours. 💔

We are thrilled and hopeful for June’s future with us though. Thanks to the staff at her previous shelter she is incredibly socialized, and has been around other dogs of all shapes and sizes without being phased. Her beautiful hound dog ears can hear a pen drop from a mile away, and would you just look at that smile?! June’s favorite thing to do appears to be just laying out and sunbathing on a cozy bed while someone scratches behind her ears. She is so loving and desperate to kick shelter life to the curb once and for all. 💕

June is 50 pounds at 7 months old. June has been treated for internal/external parasites, fully vaccinated and has tested negative for heartworm disease. June has already been spayed! ❤️
