Hello! My name is Emma Mannery and I just finished my second year of veterinary school at Iowa State. I grew up showing horses and various animals in 4-H. My future plans are to practice mixed animal medicine after graduating. Last Tuesday was Bailey's last day. 😢 She will be missed not only by the staff here at HVC, but the many clients & pets. Dr. Aubrey had an interesting find while doing a power float! 4 wolf teeth! Typically, horses are only born with two wolf teeth, but this horse was the exception! Wolf teeth are usually extracted to eliminate any sort of problem or interference with a bit in the horse’s mouth. 🦷

We have posted ultrasounds of heartbeats before, but it just never gets old! This ultrasound is of a foal at about 40 days and you can see the flutter (heartbeat) in the middle of the white spot. So cool! #HumboldtVetClinic #HVC

Talk about an interesting find! Mowgli is a stray kitten, that now has a loving home, who had some unusual looking wounds on his face and neck. His owners brought him in and we all were surprised by what we found - a cuterebra! Three of them actually! Cuterebra are botfly larvae that infect animals like cats when they are out hunting. Mowgli is living his best kitty life now that those nasty bugs are gone and we cannot wait to watch him grow up! #HumboldtVetClinic #HVC
