“Claire” is an 8 year old, 15.2 hand American Warmblood mare seeking a new low-level partner.

Due to an old injury, Claire is best suited for low-level dressage and jumping below 2’. She would likely make a lovely prospect as a low-level hunter.

Claire is also a proven broodmare, and was a great mom to her (adorable) filly who is now weaned.

She can be occasionally spicy, and so is best suited to an intermediate, confident rider.

Priced low/mid-fours, negotiable to excellent home.

Available for partial, half, or full lease in Huntersville NC

Paiasolo (Dempsey) is a 16.2 hand OTTB gelding looking for a lessor on or off-farm. Straightforward to flat and jump, but requires a confident handler on the ground.

When in shape, Dempsey has auto-changes and will jump around on the buckle, never changing tempo or rhythm. Cross-country, he is brave and will take any distance from any angle without holding it against his rider.

Lease or sale to a perfect situation. Lease low/mid-4 figures, sale highest 4-figures.

We had another successful day at the Sandbox Fall Finale today!

Consistency is key for Sofie S and Kokopelli, with a 65.4% in Training Level Test 3 for a 3rd place finish!

MacKenzie M and Max A Million had their first shot at Training Level Test 3 and came home with 1st place on a 67.8%!

I am so, so proud of these riders! Looking forward to working on our constructive criticism and coming out even better at the next outing!

George Morris, top left, became well known for saying "More hip angle" at his clinics. In his picture he demonstrates a perfect Balanced or Fort Riley Seat jumping position. His feet are on the girth and "home" in the stirrups, just like the right picture of a US Cavalryman.

That right picture was posted in the comments of this page by a woman who sadly, I do not remember her name. She said that this picture is "uncle Eddie". Morris learned his jumping position, that won him international competition acclaim, from Gordon Wright, a former Fort Riley riding instructor.

The top center image is of show jumping Hall of Fame rider Michael Matz. Note that he is on the balls of his feet in order to add the additional flexibility of the ankle joint. Additionally, his feet are somewhat behind the girth or "back on the pegs", as motorcycle riders say, to help absorb the power of large stadium jumps.

These two changes to the original Fort Riley Seat are civilian adaptations for stadium jumping where there are no terrain changes. Note that all the top images riders are not leaning on their horse's necks in a crest release, and thus can follow the movement of their horses' heads and necks over a jump.

The bottom row of images shows riders jumping with their hands on the neck in a crest release, a jumping position that Morris eventually promoted. These riders have far less hip angle. Their feet have slid well behind the girth resulting in a very unathletic position.

When you see a tennis player waiting for a serve, or a linebacker waiting for the play in crouched athletic positions, you see a very agile stance, ready for movement in any direction. This is the basic athletic position for all sports that we also see in the Balanced or Fort Riley position.

Riders stretched out over the horse neck, as in the bottom row, are not athletically ready for movement in any direction. Their jumping positions are vulnerable and unsafe due to their extended hip angles. Quick changes in direction from their horses could put them on the ground. Perhaps this is why Morris constantly can be seen in his clinic videos yelling "More hip angle". Leaning on the neck makes establishing a proper hip angle, and thus a balanced position, more difficult and more dangerous.

“Piper” is an 11 year old, 15.3 hand Thoroughbred mare available for lease on-farm in Huntersville NC.

Piper is most suitable for an intermediate junior or AA rider looking for a sweet, uncomplicated partner to move up the levels of eventing. She has a scopey jump and a rhythmic, well-balanced cross-country canter. Set your rhythm and point where you want to go, she’ll get you safely to the other side. For dressage, she is soft in the bridle and easy to ride to the bit, making her ideal for someone looking to gain feel and learn how to put the dressage basics together. She is rhythmic and supple, and has the basic lateral work down pat.

Partial, half, or full lease options available beginning November 1st. Lesson requirement for partial and half leases, training requirement for full leases. At this time, Piper is NOT available for off-property lease options.

Up next in “shows I should’ve posted about weeks ago”…

MacKenzie H, Lauryn C, and Scarlet C all competed at the Union County Saddle Club dressage show at the end of September! All three competed Intro C to see how things were going with new partnerships and preparing for first horse trials!

MacKenzie H and Max A Million brought home 4th place with a 66.75%

Lauryn C and Star Spangled brought home 1st place with a 69%, as well as High Point Adult Intro Division Champion

Scarlett C, also aboard Star Spangled, brought home 1st place of the juniors with a 67.5%

I was so proud of how everyone rode! Can’t wait to see to next steps all these pairs take!

Next up on adventures I’ve been remiss in posting…

We had an excellent outing to Kingfisher Park a few weeks ago for a cross-country school to try new levels for all! Andrea C, Scarlett C and Karin N took their ponies out to try Starter and Beginner Novice jumps to prep for the fall season!

Everyone looked great, and we’re looking forward to putting the practice to work at upcoming events!

I am seriously behind in posting updates; especially with how much we’ve had going on recently!

HUGE congratulations are due to Cortlyn B and Stormy Jason for their completion in the Novice Amateur division at the American Eventing Championships at the end of August!

It was an enormous, super competitive division and this amazing team added only two rails to their very respectable 34.7 dressage score and a double clear cross-country run.

I couldn’t be more proud of these two, and am excited to watch their move up to Training this season 🤩💃🤩💃

15 hand Morgan mare available for on-farm half-lease

CBMF Night Rhapsody is a quiet, safe eventing schoolmaster available 3 days per week in Huntersville at a beautiful farm with all the amenities!

“Fancy” is a former sainted school pony who is now available to someone looking for a bit more saddle time than a school program allows. She is kind, personable, and loooooves attention and her people.

In the past, Fancy has taken both junior and AA riders through Beginner Novice, and schooled Novice. Most recently, she’s been jumping to 2’3” at home, but can absolutely leg back up to Beginner Novice with a rider ready to do so.

Fancy is safe for even the most beginner riders, but is forward thinking and game over the larger fences, so would prefer a game rider if you’re actively looking to move up the levels.

Lesson requirement with Everlark Dressage and Eventing on-site. Will also consider off-farm *paid* leases to the right situation and training program.

Better late than never? 😅

The Everlark crew had a fabulous weekend at Rise N Shine Dressage at the Pinehurst Harness Track the weekend of the 13th!

MacKenzie M had fabulously consistent scores across the weekend with Waffles with 61% and 61.207% in Training 2 and 3, placing 5th and 2nd respectively

Karin N and Max A Million tried their hand at dressage without the jumping and came home with 66.75% (1st place) and 64.75% (1st place) at Intro C, and 61.154% (2nd place) and 62.885% (2nd place) in Training 1.

Amelia B and Namaste went to Amelia’s first weekend-long show and had a great first experience! Amelia and “Zen” improved their scores from Saturday to Sunday in both Intro B and C, coming home with scores in the 60s earning them three Firsts and a Second

Morgan R and Regina George had a rough start culminating in a withdrawal from their first test. After that, they were able to get their acts together for two First place finishes in Training 1 and Training 3 with a 70.577% and 66.8%.

Huge thanks to Madelyn H who came to visit but also ended up being a HUGE help grooming over the weekend ❤️ It was great to see you!

Looking forward to a break from competition until the end of August!
