✨ Meet the Team ✨

Introducing : Nereida

Growing up, Nereida went to Mexico every year during summer break, where she would spend time with everything from dogs and cats to cows, chickens, and horses. She’s always felt an innate connection with the earth’s creatures—for Nereida, helping pets professionally in the veterinary field was simply the natural choice!

Nereida grew up only a few miles from Huntersville and started working in a boarding and doggie daycare facility as soon as she could. That facility owned several veterinary hospitals, so she had the opportunity to become a Veterinary Assistant. Almost immediately, Nereida knew it was the perfect path for her! When the time came to expand her knowledge and skillset, she decided to join the team here at Hambright Animal Hospital. She’s been a part of the family since May of 2018.

Around the clinic, Nereida is fond of performing dental cleanings and loves to see how a pet’s health can be transformed thanks to good oral care. She also has a soft spot for the hospital’s feline patients, and likes utilizing her certifications in low-stress handling and fear-free practices to help cats feel as comfortable as possible. Most of all, Nereida enjoys being a firsthand witness to the incredible bonds between pets and owners.

At home, Nereida has one pet of her own: Ava, a loveable tuxedo cat.

✨ Meet the Team ✨

Introducing : Dr. Aaron Patel

A passion for helping people and animals at the same time drove Dr. Patel to become a veterinarian. Growing up, he pursued and accomplished the ranks of Eagle Scout. This instilled in him the importance of service for others and having leadership in the community.

When Dr. Patel was a senior in high school, he had the opportunity to scrub in at a local hospital on a C-section for a Yorkie. Seeing the doctor have the ability to help bring new life into the world, assist the mother in need, and bring gratitude to the client all at the same time truly inspired him. He would go on to become a two-time North Carolina State University graduate earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a doctorate degree from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Prior to joining Hambright Animal Hospital, Dr. Patel practiced near his hometown in Carthage, NC. He then moved to Charlotte, NC, where he practiced in South Park for a couple of years. Professionally, he enjoys being able to help people and take care of their pets’ needs each day. While he appreciates all areas of general practice, he has a particular interest in general surgery, dentistry, diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology.

Dr. Patel has two spunky Boston Terriers named Pink and Sassy. Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys staying active by traveling, hiking, running, working out and spending time on the water. He loves watching and playing many sports, including basketball, football, tennis and golf. So far, he’s checked several items off his bucket list, including hiking Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain in Peru, cage diving with great white sharks in South Africa, and working at a tiger refuge while studying abroad in India.
