It's a book birthday day! Happy 1st to "Jars of Things"
This book is the 5th and final book in my Maddison, Indiana Thrillers series. It took me a long time to finally get up the nerve to write it. I can't believe that was a whole year ago!
The first four books in that series are all technically stand alones. That means you can read each book by itself. There is a theme of creepiness that happens in each book. There are mysterious boxes and the song "Farmer in the Dell" in each book. Sheriff Kingsley is in all the books. Some of the characters from other books appear in later books. Oh yeah, the possessed doll, Elyse, is in all the books.
Anyway, although the central story for each book was wrapped up in each one, the over arching story needed a conclusion.
That's where "Jars of Things" comes in. And also why it took me so long to write. There was a LOT to put into one book. The story is told from many different points of view, the thread of the story passing from one person to another, then back again. It was a lot to keep track of. Plus, we had to catch the killer that was the central plot of that particular story. Phew! It was hard.
I'm so pleased with how it turned out. You really do need to read the first four books to fully understand it, but if you have, then be sure to read "Jars."

I missed a really important book birthday on Sunday. My debut novel "How Murder Saved my Life" was published on Feb. 18, 2019. That means I have been a published author for 5 years!
This is just incredible to me. I never thought I could write for a living let alone be going stronger and stronger after 5 years. Thank you to all you readers out there who have made it possible.

People often ask me how I got started in writing. As with most writers, I started as a kid. But what led me to publishing actually was a battle with depression.
I was going through a dark time and decided to write about it. I had written a few novels before, but nothing really good. I wanted to try again. So I took all my mental issues and put them into a character, Zoey. I gave Zoey a life similar to mine at the time, then through in a murder.
"How Murder Saved My Life" was the result. It is a small town murder mystery with a woman battling her own inner demons as well as tracking a killer. I think it turned our well. I have a special place in my heart for this book. After all, I was Zoey to a certain extent.

I love designing my own covers and I do okay at it, but I've always wanted professionally done covers for my books. I found this wonderful designer on GetCovers.com. She did an amazing job on the new covers for the Messages of Murder books. She even made this cover reveal banner. I am obsessed!
I'll be updating the Message in the Bones cover today and the other books in the series as they get done. I probably should wait, but I'm just so excited.

"The Moon Has a Name" is an adventure thriller novel that is full of surprises. Nothing is what it seems.
I loved writing this book. All my other books are set in Indiana, but this one is on a river in Colorado. Phoebe was a great character. As she slowly loses her mind running for her life in a canoe, I could really push the boundaries of the story. It was so fun.
"The Moon Has a Name" is a short and fast read, but it really packs a punch. Spend an afternoon with Phoebe and get swept away in her adventure.
Oh yeah, there's a dog as a main character. What's not to love?

The story behind the story of the thriller “The Magnolia Bones.”
The idea for “The Magnolia Bones” bounced around my head for about a year before I finally sat down to write it. Of all places, I was in our backyard pool with my husband talking books and brainstorming ideas. We came up with this idea of twin old ladies that ran a bed and breakfast and were up to nefarious deeds. We affectionately called it the “old lady killer book.”
Whenever I’d finish one of my other novels, I’d think about starting this story, but would always do a different project instead. One day last fall, I was talking to a friend about how I wasn’t really excited about the book I had chosen to write next. She said, “What do you really want to write?” I began to explain about the “old lady killer book” and she said. “You’re not writing this why?”
So I decided to finally do it. That night we came up with the first line, “Blood drips from my nose into the sink water.” Over a glass of wine, we hashed out the first scene of Wendy escaping her abusive husband. I couldn’t wait to start writing the next morning!
“The Magnolia Bones” was a different type of book for me. I usually write murder mysteries and this was more psychological thriller. It was tons of fun to write and I hope tons of fun to read.

Today is the book birthday for my thriller "The Moon Has Name." It was published 2 years ago today.
I LOVED writing this book. It is a different kind of book for me. Most of my stories are set in small-town, Indiana. This one is set on a wild river deep in the forests of Colorado. It was fun to break out of my usual and see where it would take me.
Phoebe was such a great character to work with. She gets progressively more sick and less coherent as the book goes on. Blurring the line between reality and memory was a riot.
Then there's Kay, her mom. I know I'd do anything if my daughter was alone and lost in the wild. Kay was an unstoppable force.
Then there's the German Short Hair, Rigsby. He's a major character in his own right. Rigsby is by Phoebe's side the whole time and she couldn't make it out alive without him.

We have new babies! Our mini pig mama Juno blessed us with some adorable little bittles. Our micro boar, puppet, is the father. These mini-micro mixes should grow between 60-90 pounds. They will be bigger than the all micro babies we normally have.
Will start taking deposits on individual piglets soon. Born May 18. Ready to go late June. Will be offered to the waiting list first.
Males will be neutered.
Males $550. Females $450.

Piglets on sale. We still have a few piglets that need to find their forever homes. I have marked their prices way down so they can meet their families sooner. If you have been wanting a micro piglet that grows to about 40-50 pounds, but they've been out of your budget, now is the time to get one on sale.
Mikey was born in August and weighs about 12 pounds right now. He's older and will need a little extra work, but he's marked down to only $250.
I also have 2 females and 2 males that were born the first of March. They are about 7 pounds right now. Priced at $550.
Micros normally cost in the $800 range, so this is a steal.
All males are neutered.
All piglets are ready to go home today.
