Faithful Friends Veterinary Care, Inc. Faithful Friends Veterinary Care, Inc. is a pet health care facility devoted to the care of dogs, c Faithful Friends Veterinary Care, Inc.

provides veterinary care and support for you and your pet from the time they join your family until they depart. As a team we will strive to help you understand your pet care options so that you can make an informed decision in every aspect of your pet’s care. Each and every family is different in how they handle each pet’s care within their family. Each family has different physical, emotional,

and financial needs. For this reason, we offer preventive health care for each life stage based on each pet’s life style. The preventative measures can include vaccinations, parasite control, dental care, and screening tests, such as radiographs (X-rays), blood work, and eye pressure checks (tonometry), to check for medical conditions. All pets need some medical treatment during their lifetime and Faithful Friends will be able to provide care by being able to perform diagnostics using the in house laboratory and the reference laboratory for special testing, radiology, tonometry, and monitoring of physical examination findings. These diagnostics will enable the doctor with the help of the staff to administer and prescribe appropriate medications, recommend further testing, surgical intervention, or if necessary, referral to a veterinary
specialist. Faithful Friends is able to provide a range of surgical procedures because of Dr. Ellen’s years of experience and interest and continued education in surgical procedures. Procedures that are offered include but are not limited to repair of the third gland of the eyelid or “Cherry eye”, a**l sacculectomy, dental extractions, perineal urethrostomy for blocked cats, subtotal colectomy for cats suffering from megacolon, adrenalectomies in ferrets, and flank spays in cats. The staff at Faithful Friends Veterinary Care, Inc. is excited to greet some existing faithful friends and make many new ones.

In her late teens, Scarlet was tentative about exploring and at times having difficulty moving around. After starting Librela, she was more interested in exploring and even playing! Librela’s pain blocking mechanism works without the side effects of anti-inflammatory medications to allow more freedom of movement in arthritic dogs. Ask your veterinarian about it today!

You may have seen recent online rumors claiming Purina products are harming pets. These rumors are FALSE, and they are causing unnecessary stress for pet parents. Purina does NOT have any health or safety issues with any of their products, and the people behind this rumor have admitted in several places online they do not have evidence that any issue exists with the brands.

Some of the online posts read as a ‘pet food warning’ and are very scary to pet owners. Purina is working to address this misinformation, but these rumors continue to spread quickly and may be creating panic and concern .

Please know if there is ever a true issue with Purina products, you will hear about it from their team directly. We at Faithful Friends Veterinary Care continue to sell and use for our pets Purina foods and treats.

There have been reports of an unknown or new respiratory illness in dogs from several spots around the country. None so far have been reported in or near PA. There is no consensus on whether this is a 'new' type of bacteria or virus or if it is the usual ebb and flow of upper respiratory infections that we see every year, but now can get reported more easily via social media. No specific changes in recommendations have been made but:
1) If your dog frequents dog parks, gets kenneled, groomed or travels frequently, the Bordatella vaccination is recommended, and the Canine Influenza vaccination is also available, especially for traveling dogs.
2) NOT frequenting large groups of unknown dogs (parks, etc.) if possible is a prudent change in routine if more of these cases appear
3) Keeping your dog's DHLPP vaccination up to date is important as well since 2 of the components protect dogs from respiratory infection

During the winter months when temperatures fall, you may think that you can give your pet a break from their tick and flea medication. But not so fast — many dogs are at risk for ticks and fleas year-round.

Not only can fleas find their way into your home during the colder months, but many tick species can survive throughout the winter, too.
