Are you planning a trip to Canada or Mexico with your dog? If so, be aware that the rules have changed. After August 1 2024 there are new requirements for returning to the US from foreign countries with a dog. If you are a client of Faithful Friends and anticipate a trip any time in the near future please call so we can start the process in time to get all the requirements finished.

UPDATE: not neutered, no microchip. Seems on the younger side.
Was swimming across the river from the Point.

A client brought in a very friendly male dog in Huntingdon off of 829. No tags or collar. Is microchipped and Finder is contacting microchip company. In the meantime, if it is your dog, give us a call and we will put you in touch with the Finder.

You may have seen recent online rumors claiming Purina products are harming pets. These rumors are FALSE, and they are causing unnecessary stress for pet parents. Purina does NOT have any health or safety issues with any of their products, and the people behind this rumor have admitted in several places online they do not have evidence that any issue exists with the brands.

Some of the online posts read as a ‘pet food warning’ and are very scary to pet owners. Purina is working to address this misinformation, but these rumors continue to spread quickly and may be creating panic and concern .

Please know if there is ever a true issue with Purina products, you will hear about it from their team directly. We at Faithful Friends Veterinary Care continue to sell and use for our pets Purina foods and treats.

Very friendly black and white male cat found in McConnellstown, Thursday 1/11/24. He is not neutered, no microchip, and a young cat. He has a tan camo collar on and must have had a tag held on by a twisty tie. Part of the twisty tie is left on the collar. There have been reports of an unknown or new respiratory illness in dogs from several spots around the country. None so far have been reported in or near PA. There is no consensus on whether this is a 'new' type of bacteria or virus or if it is the usual ebb and flow of upper respiratory infections that we see every year, but now can get reported more easily via social media. No specific changes in recommendations have been made but:
1) If your dog frequents dog parks, gets kenneled, groomed or travels frequently, the Bordatella vaccination is recommended, and the Canine Influenza vaccination is also available, especially for traveling dogs.
2) NOT frequenting large groups of unknown dogs (parks, etc.) if possible is a prudent change in routine if more of these cases appear
3) Keeping your dog's DHLPP vaccination up to date is important as well since 2 of the components protect dogs from respiratory infection

Mid America Pet Food, Mount Pleasant, Texas, is voluntarily recalling three lots of Victor Super Premium Dog Food, Select Beef Meal & Brown Rice Formula produced at its Mount Pleasant, Texas production facility because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The clinic will be closing at 4 PM on Wednesday, November 22nd. We will remain closed November 23rd and 24th so that our staff can enjoy the holiday with their families.
