Our furry friend Wally is back due to no fault of his own....🥺
Wally is a sweet and playful 7.5-year-old terrier mix who is looking for a loving home to call his own. Though, his journey through life has not been an easy one so far. He initially came to us in 2019 and was covered in wounds which our medical team quickly treated. Since then, he had left the facility 2x, but ultimately wound up back here in December 2024, through no fault of his own. Nowadays, he's a big fan of playtime! Wally loves all kinds of toys-balls, ropes, squeaky toys, and more-but he can be a bit protective of them. He'll happily trade toys for other toys or tasty treats, making him a fun and engaging playmate. Wally is a bit timid with new people while in his kennel, but once he's out, he's much more open and friendly. He's great with basic commands like "sit" and "down" and is always ready to please. On the leash, Wally can pull a little but listens well to corrections. Because of his energetic and playful nature, Wally would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with adults or teens over 17, as he is a timid dog who enjoys a low-key life. JUST OVER A YEAR OLD, KID TESTED, GOOD WITH PEOPLE AND DOGS, WHISKEY ROLL HAS BEEN GIVEN THE EUTH COMMAND ! House trained, crate trained, all in all a five star family pet ! Whiskey Roll was finally assessed and he did great ! This youngster is great with everyone at the ACC. Do not let this great family pet be bagged up like all the others. Please help Whiskey Roll find a home, he has hours to live !

IF 'GIVING GOOD FACE' WAS A DOG! ❤ What a gorgeous boy Whiskey Roll is. He's a wonderful dog looking for his forever home. He was surrendered due to his owner moving to a place that does not accept pets. A volunteer writes: If you love big, playful, outgoing dogs, then Whiskey Roll may be the perfect one for you! He makes friends very easily - being wiggly and waggy during his intake; and during his behavior assessment (where he also played a game of fetch with a squeaky toy); and was even friendly during his medical exam. He was a bit shy with me at first, but quickly warmed up, wiggling around as I pet him, and shaking his butt in the air when I gave him lower-back scratches. Whisky came to us due to a no-pets housing rule. His previous family describe him as social, affectionate, very active, and playful; and tell us he loves car rides, playing with toys, and snacking on blueberries, strawberries, rice, and chicken. Whisky is a young pup who needs help with his leash manners, and who can get overstimulated by the environment or when interacting with people, so he'd benefit from training to help him with this. He'll make a great student though - he already knows the cues for "sit" and "down." (He's housebroken, too!). You can meet this 67-pound bundle of cuteness at the Queens shelter where he's awaiting his fur-ever home.

Azul is only 8 months old and found himself already in a precarious situation. He had been left behind by his owner with a dogsitter and his owner had never returned. After a month, without another option, the sitter brought him to ACC in hopes of finding him a new home. In his sitter’s house, he had spent time around children under the age of 10 and was friendly and outgoing, as he was with strangers. Azul is a super social boy, loves spending time with his people. He is a gentle guy, and a handsome one at that. He has a beautiful stark white coat, light eyes, and flippy floppy ears. Azul has been struggling with the sounds and sights of other dogs at the shelter, and he takes comfort in cuddling with people and laying in laps. His id is #217428

DANNY….. we can’t say enough about this fabulous 5-6 year old perfect boy. Rescued from an abusive situation in Louisiana, covered with bite marks,scars and starving! He is now PERFECT and shining in his foster home. Danny loves his toys, children, play dates with his canine friends.

LARRY and his brothers Curly and Moe were found on a dirt road in Port Barre Louisiana. Curly and Moe have been rescued but Larry has been waiting for over one year. Our furry friend, Tucker, is back due to no fault of his own...😢
Tucker is an 8-year-old hound mix with a sweet and cautious personality. Tucker has not had it very easy. He was surrendered to us back in 2018 due to an incident in the home. He stayed at the shelter until Feb. 2024, but ultimately wound up back at the shelter in December, 2024 (due to no fault of his own.) In fact, we have seen great improvement in Tuckers behavior! Tucker tends to make wary eye contact, but shows a softer demeanor around familiar faces! When it comes to handling, Tucker is cautious but allows gentle touch from those he trusts. Tucker is playful during interactions, and though he doesn't show interest in toys, he is still a joy to engage with. Tucker warms up slowly to strangers, especially with the help of treats. He knows basic cues such as sit and paw, and while he has good leash skills, he may be better suited for a home with adults only. Tucker's ideal home would be one where his cautious nature is respected, and he can thrive with understanding and patience. He enjoys time with people he trusts and is a sweet companion to those who appreciate his gentle ways.
