Happy New Year to All!

We wanted to share the exciting news that our Theriogenology department will soon have the ability to store canine semen.

Cryopreservation of canine semen provides a way to preserve your dog’s reproductive potential for an indefinite period under liquid nitrogen. At Gold Coast we have storage tanks on premises for long term storage (for an annual fee). The samples additionally can be shipped to multiple locations, both domestic and international. Samples are shipped in a liquid nitrogen dry shipper, keeping the sample safe until arrival. Most domestic samples are shipped overnight via FedEX, where international shipment times may vary to a few days depending on location.

10/28/2019

PennHIP testing is accurate in puppies as young as 16 weeks of age. It gives an estimate of the risk for painful osteoarthritis of canine hip dysplasia later in life.

All dogs can benefit from PennHIP testing. For pet dogs found to be at risk to develop hip OA, early intervention can help prevent or lessen the severity. For working/service dogs, identifying a dog with healthy hips can extend the working life of the dog. For breeding dogs, early detection of at-risk hips can allow the breeder to make early, informed decisions as to which dogs to keep in breeding programs.

We are excited to announce that our Dr. Carol Margolis is now trained and certified to perform PennHip testing on dogs.

If you are interested in scheduling an appointment or learning more, please call (631)923-2530.
