Everyday we meet new animals and people. The Shelter environment is full of love, and the staff works hard to care for and love the animals. Volunteers who have completed a waiver and had an orientation are

welcome to walk dogs from 8 -3:30 daily. The public is invited to meet animals between 12-3:30 Mon- Saturday. When you have questions please message, call, or stop by the shelter. The animals would love to meet you. This page will be updated daily, and we will try to respond as quickly as possible.

Devin was brought into the shelter after being attacked by a dog. The good Samaritan literally pulled the cat out of the dogs mouth!
He has a broken jaw, fractured sternum and a broken leg. He desperately needs a foster home to heal. If you can foster please contact Connie Gilkerson. We also could use some help with his medical bills so far around $800. If you can donate you can mail a check to ASAP

Just a reminder!! It’s that time of year when personal property taxes are due, so please don’t forget your dog tax. You’ll find it on “Section 4: Dogs” of your personal property tax report form. These taxes are crucial to the running of the shelter and provide dog owners with legal proof of ownership.

So many homes to find and less than a week until our adoption special ends! It's definitely a labor of love. The shelter will be closed this coming Monday in observance of Labor Day, but can take appointments for approved adopters to meet animals (meet & greets, etc.).
Reduced adption fees of $50 will still be in effect throuh Monday Sept. 2nd, so get your applications in or call with any questions you might have! Stop by even if you're "just looking", we're open today for extended hours until 6pm for prospective adopters. We'd love to introduce you to your next best friend!

Many thanks to Bill Bulen and Jason Black for each giving up their afternoon to assemble the first 2 outside kennels. We could definitely use some help putting the rest of the new outside kennels together tomorrow afternoon. The puppies will spend their mornings outside in the kennels while the puppy room is being cleaned each day. It takes about 30-40 minutes to assemble a kennel. It helps to have teams of 2, but we will welcome all helpers and connect you to a helper if you are by yourself. Thank you!

This is an especially challenging time at the Animal Shelter. We have many pets to take care of and several staff members are off for a variety of reasons, including illness, injury, and medical appointments. If you have time, we could really use help walking dogs each day. If you’ve already completed a waiver and have walked dogs before, you can come at any time starting at 8:30. If this is your first time, please wait until 10, when people are in the office who can help you get started. Thank you!
If you can’t walk dogs, but want to help take care of the puppies, Lori needs help today and tomorrow. The puppies are now in their new space at the Cook School.
If you can’t physically help take care of animals at the shelter, but would like to donate toward food and cleaning supplies, all donations are greatly appreciated.

More pictures of Bruno. FB will not allow me to post a video and pictures. So I am doing a second post with pictures of Bruno to show everyone what a handsome, sweet dog we are trying to help. This is his story:

On Friday the shelter was called about a 1 year old dog who was having seizures. The caller did not have transportation and it sounded serious, so we made arrangements to pick him up. When he arrived at the shelter, he was coughing and experiencing labored breathing. Thankfully, PAC agreed to see him. The vet staff quickly ruled out that he may have been hit by a car, because he didn’t have abrasions and wasn’t painful when touched. He began to cough up blood, which raised the concern that he may have injested rat poison. They started him on Vitamin K, which caused swelling and hives. They got that under control with Benadryl, but then he began to once again have seizures. He was transported to the ER for the weekend. Tomorrow he will return to PAC where they will check his clotting times. As you can hear in the video, sweet Bruno feels terrible and he needs our help to get better. Please donate if you are able. We began working to renovate the Cook School 2 years ago. I am thrilled to announce that the renovation is nearly complete!
Today we will begin moving our puppies out of cages into their little stalls in a light filled, climate controlled room where they will have the freedom to move around and act like puppies.
Eventually I want to to build outside kennels on the east side of the building, but that will require some serious fund raising and time. In the meantime, I want to order outdoor kennels where the puppies can spend time during the day getting fresh air while their inside spaces are being cleaned.
